In an ABC/YouGov poll, 76% of those polled approved of Trump’s speech to Congress last night. Â Only 14% somewhat disapproved and a mere 10% strongly disapproved. Eighty-seven percent believe Trump is doing what he promised during his campaign.

It was a great speech, one of the best I’ve ever heard from any President.

Trump’s speech was one of the 10 great speeches in American Political history. Not all speeches (aka MLK I have a dream) but political speeches.
I have a 90 year old friend. He said it was the greatest political speech he had ever heard – and he heard FDR, JFK and Reagan.
Nothing will ever top the special nature of the Carryn Owens tribute. Only the soulless ghouls left in the Democrat Party can’t see the humanity in it.
The speech was great for TWO reasons. First, say what you will about Trump’s flawed personality, at least I know he says what he believes. Therefore, I know that he is REALLY GOING TO TRY to do the things he outlined in his speech. Second, because he says what he believes, and because I know he is speaking out of sincerity, I can recite for you the main points of his speech a full 24 hours after he gave it. Try doing that with a Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or Jeb Bush speech. It may sound good, and you may nod your head, but the flowery rhetoric skillfully delivered will not stick with most listeners. Most conventional politicians give speeches like my pastor of ten years ago. Beautiful words, magnificently delivered, but as I am leaving the sanctuary, I would ask myself, “Just what did he say?” Not so with a Trump speech. And therein, SD, and Old Redneck, lies the brilliance of Trump. His followers GET HIM.
but do you truly want this guy to represent you to the world? Looking and talking like that?
Well, I’d rather have Gunnery Sergent Hartman representing the nation to the world but I guess Trump will have to do.
YES!!!
Yes, it was a very well liked speech. But, that is all it was is a speech.
Nah, I’m pretty sure there has been some cattle to go with the hat.
Yup
Very glad to hear that you are doing well, SBT.
Until the Carryn Owen moment, all it was was an excellent and very thoughtful speech – but then, in that moment, it became a great speech.
Greatness comes in flashes. The Battle Hymn of the Republic lyrics came in a dream that awaken the author. The Messiah was written in a little more than a month.
That’s the speech a Proud American President delivers
” one of the best I’ve ever heard from any President” – so sad. There have been many great speeches. Trump might one day make one. The best thing that people are saying about this speech is that he did not screw up. You claim that this was one of the best says more about your desire to promote this site than your grasp on reality

You’re sad, you’re scared, your concerned — fret not, the grown ups are back in charge and President Trump will take care of things for the next 8 years.
Now America gets to see what some of us have seen for a while. Feels good, man!
Actually. You are dieing to say that what you have it see for a while is a white guy in charge
You’re an idiot and your post doesn’t even make sense. Read it again. The people you are ‘communicating’ with are not all white. And so what if they were? Republicans don’t define everything based on race like you democrats do.
Many of us didn’t vote for the Clintons (Bill or Hillary), Gore, or Kerry either. They’re all white. We didn’t vote for Obama for the same reason – we disagree with the Democratic Party on a number of issues.
And you’re racist. Didn’t you listen to the speech at all?

SD – I’m not a white guy and Rocinante and I debate often on here. He’s no racist. He’s a sharp wit and he debates his points furiously and with great enthusiasm. We often spar here, but for you to call him a racist is not only insulting to him, it’s actually insulting to pretty much every one who has ever really experienced racism.. You need help and prayer, but people like you are so pathetic it gets harder for me to care.
