What’s Happening at the Polls?

The primaries in Stafford and Henrico counties had really good candidates and this is a bitter pill. I will not vote for a RINO for any reason. I choose either not voting, or voting for an independent or crossing the line. Voting for a RINO is like dying from a thousand cuts.

I’m am really sorry that an outstanding candidate like Susan Stimson was unable to bring it home. As someone who admires her but couldn’t vote (legally) in her district it was too bad I couldn’t do more than toss some $’s in for her campaign. But I hope, as he goes forward to another term, Bill Howell will not be as ignorant as his “surrogate” on this post as Jay Hughes. Howell’s “ass whooping” defeat of a truly conservative candidate came as a result of him recognizing just how vulnerable he was. As the WaPo pointed out, Howell learned a valuable lesson from the Cantor defeat. When your 20+ yrs. as a “professional” politician can’t pull out a win with a 2 to 1 fundraising advantage, well, not exacting “ass whooping”, more like buying the win.

Hughes can be excused for his exuberance, so excited that “the man” actually remembered his name. Those with more experience will recognize a well understood profession political ability….it’s not a trait that necessary encourages a politician to more tax payer friendly votes. I think the Stimson challenge might have that effect. We’ll see.

Staunton Virginia

Ward 1, one entrance to this polling station is blocked by road construction (repaving road) leaving only one side street entrance open for voters to get in and vote. Numerous Hanger signs, but did not see any signs from challengers. Nobody handing out literature, but there was a sample Hanger ballot on a clipboard leaning against a post.

Ward 2 Mrs. Hanger was present to greet voters. Hanger signs present, did not see any signs for challengers.

Ward 3 Hanger signs, did not see any signs from challengers. Did not see anyone from any of the campaigns.

Ward 4 Hanger signs present, did not see signs from challengers. Did not see anyone from any of the campaigns.

Ward 5 Hanger signs present, did not see signs from challengers. Did not see anyone from any of the campaigns.

Turnout described as normal except for the station with a blocked entrance that described turnout as light.

I voted this morning in HD28. I was voter 54 at around 7:15. The precinct is Stimpson’s home precinct and should be very pro-Susan. Good turnout already means could be a good day for Virginia!

With all of Howell’s money I expected a team of volunteers at the polls persuading voters, but there was just one underwhelming person representing Howell. Nothing of significance in sign wars either. Both camps had folks inside the poll recording folks that have voted. Looks like both have gone with a knock and drag methodology for EDO.

Morning started with a lot of traffic for folks in Stafford County. HOT lanes were “broken” this morning which caused major delays on 95 and side roads. Angry commuters could take it ourt on incumbents 🙂
