In a letter to Alex Azar, Secretary of Health and Human Services, 153 members of Congress have asked him to review the Title X program, authorized in 1970, and designed to fund family planning programs but not abortion. Since then funds for family planning are often commingled with abortion funds in facilities that where both services are offered. Planned Parenthood receives $60 million annually from this program while they maintain that they must provide abortion at their facilities as part of their family planning program. Planned Parenthood should not be receiving funding through Title X, therefore these representatives are asking for review of the program and the withdrawal of funds from from Planned Parenthood.
Of course no Democrats would sign such a letter but easy for Congressional Republicans to support it since the majority (all?) are pro-life. Moving to defund Planned Parenthood and their abortion services is a no brainer for Republicans. Right? Not for two of Virginia’s Republican Congressional delegation who did not sign the letter, Rep.Scott Taylor (VA2) and Rep. Barbara Comstock (VA10). The other five Republicans representing Virginia signed it. It would be interesting to know why Comstock and Taylor did not sign the letter when it’s a start in defunding Planned Parenthood.
More from Tennessee’s Congresswoman Diane Black on the Title X letter here.

Barbara Comstock has been endorsed by Susan B. Anthony’s List in this primary against Shak. She has voted to defund Planned Parenthood every time it’s been up for a vote for the past 9 years in the General Assembly and Congress.
Planned Parenthood, pro-abortion groups, and Nancy Pelosi have spent millions and millions attacking Barbara BECAUSE of her votes against Planned Parenthood.
Attached is actual facts on the omnibus and Planned Parenthood funding.
Right, it was not directed at PP but they’re getting the money anyway and this letter is asking that title X be reviewed for that reason. Why not sign it?
Because it is the challenger that claps and does tricks for the circus audience.
‘Attached are’ right?
Sometimes I feel that issues like Planned Parenthood, Med. Expansion a couple others are just Campaign talking points.
We have to look no further than this site itself.
A short time back this site was appalled at Delegate Glen Davis on Med.Ex. yet the short memories show up in the story of him about potential VB Mayor?????
I am Pro-life and was heart broke when a couple I know made the wrong choice. The decision was their’s and was made completely because of the fear of not being able to continue to work in the Lynchburg area in our Construction industry due to the mass influx of illegal aliens.
This was in 2012.
I call it the Cuccinelli /McDonnell abortion because of the failures to enforce Va Employment laws.
I expect that economics are a large percentage of the wrong decision being made.
I wonder if the rate is higher among lower income families.
I wonder how many men leave Central America amounted their families behind to work here for the Republicans who can’t find Americans to work.
How actually is concerned for the well being of the young Va. Families.
Is this story here a anti-abortion story or a anti Comstock story?
Surely an anti-Comstock attempt. After the thrashing Shak Hill and his henchmen took just a few days ago on this very site, they clearly needed to come back with something, ANYTHING, to continue their efforts to help Nancy Pelosi and Wexton. This is their feeble attempt to do just that. Congresswoman Comstock has NEVER voted to appropriate funding for Planned Parenthood and never will. That’s why pro-life groups like Susan B. Anthony list continue to back her. Desperate times call for nonsense measures from the #SadShak squad. My hunch is they are working on seeking out the next office for which he’ll run–and lose.
I am starting to see similarities here against the Comstock and Stewart campaigns as I witnessed with the Campbell County Republicans when they ran Charles Falwell off of the BOS.
Then the photo shop pics on Stewart identically just like the photo shop pics on campaign flyers against Conservative Independent Susan Hogg when she ran against Mike Rousseau last year.
People are starting to wise up to those who desire to be elected or just run for office just to bring home an income.
I’m glad my local Republican party purged myself and approximately another 600 residents.
You are so funny, and so wrong.
If all that is true, why not sign the letter?
Shak type. No surprise.
So you don’t know the answer either. It’s interesting how TBE is accused of supporting Shak and Barbara. Perhaps that’s because we are pro-Republican.
As I said, Shak type. That’s why his lead henchman gave you a thumbs up. Too bad he does not respond to questions without lying or simply ignoring them. For instance, his comment on polling in the 10th. I still wait for his response. I guess he’ll never back up his statements. Since you’re on that squad, perhaps you can get him to elaborate on his statement about all the polls he’s read/seen.
I think that might be a premature eshakulation.
Not being a big fan of Babs in no way puts you in the Shak coven.
In fact, it is probably the moral duty of every conservative, Republican, and Trump supporter to overwhelmingly REJECT Shak by voting FOR Babs.
It is time to houseclean the party and apologizing to the voters for even suggesting Shak.
I think you piss off both camps roughly equal — fair AND balanced.
Did you ever stop to think why PP protests the Congresswoman’s district office every Friday? Do you think they are cheering her?? ???
Meeting and bonding with Shak folk.
Because politics. Is the posturing and virtue signaling a request to review going to have positive or negative political benefits?
I think to express the real actual displeasure that exists, but within the context of ‘you may have this win against the bozo, but when we get our act together, you will have actual viable opposition.’
Perhaps you are giving ShakeShack and his
Perhaps one follower , too much credit.
Shakeshack’s website on the “issues” gives
“ProLife” about three sentences .
It would help to know something ,… anything about
The matter.
The ShakMan’s photo in the previous post about him
Is telling …looks like he missed the team plane for the
Mets circa 1965. Has that worried look of a not
Too successful relief pitcher who will soon find out
That he is the player to be named later in the trade
That brought him to the Mets .
I would not worry too much about ShakeShack
And definitely would not take his check.
Our party seems to be stuck on stupid when it comes to nomination events. This time we have: 1) No Moderate/Liberal statewide candidate, 2) Highly contested dem race at same time — Either R or D in the 10th, 3) Historically low turnout in a not First-Tuesday-in-November Election Day.
All Team Shak have to do is generate Anti-Babs hate; pretend that he supports Trump; turn out the whack pack.
Barbara has certainly accumulated more than her fair share of partisan enemies (mostly because she foolishly thinks that a superior number of reasonable conservatives and Republicans understand real world politics) in her inter-party squabbles.
While it does seem like a perfect storm, and most everyone now sees the threat of Shakists to our party, district, and, God forbid, Country — The grownups are taking this threat seriously.
Every party election, every contest, every position, is a fight for the heart and soul of our GOP. If you truly care about the future of party, commonwealth, and country – and are not yet tired of winning – you will campaign, support, and vote for Babs (even if you have to hold your nose so tight it bleeds).
If you’re a dem, other non-Republican, or deep state swamp creature working to cripple the GOP in favor of personal or other special interests — Shak it up.
I am part of the Fifth CD.
Support Comstock, simply think
Her positions , votes , are what it takes
To be a Republican in that district.
Two parties are better than one.
This Shake Shack person makes one wonder.
No real history , or a history that’s slippery at best.
No real campaign , except some empty assertions
Like “ drain the swamp”
Makes one wonder just who he really is fronting for.
Makes one wonder who went out to get the petition
Signed for him…to get to the number needed.
A person doesn’t like Comstock ?
Fine..
This Shak person would be an alternative ?
Really ?
Just think the guy’s a front for someone
And in the end can only benefit D party in that district.
We’re never really happy with our electeds and we all just *know* that we could do it better.
The way it is supposed to work is that Barbara gets challenged from inside the party if she swings outside parameters and/or jeopardizes the seat.
It would then be our job, nay, our duty, to replace her with someone as good or superior. That has not happened and because Shak, we have not yet seen an acceptable viable replacement.
We (hopefully) nominate the most conservative, qualified person and give them our brand imprimatur. We say ‘this candidate, is the best for the job and reflects how we’reso much better than the racist commie pinkos wearing the donkey.
The electorate (unintelligent rabble to irrelevant libertarian philosopher-kings) considers and then chooses our statesman over the fuzzy-thinking leftist statist.
Shak is an empty suit with a sketchy background, little to no qualifications, insurmountable political gaffes and crazy eyes in person and photos.
One could see him as a very special form of incumbent/Democrat protection when he acts as a challenger.
But don’t listen to me trying to make Shak look good — do your own research, vpap, open secrets, shadyshak.com — be sure to try to figure out the Friends of Shak Hill swamp — what, where, and how did that money work?
It’s not that difficult to find 1000 people to sign a petition. Having primaries facilitated all the fringe groups to flex their limited muscle to force their agenda on our party.
Shak is no stranger to thwarting the will of the electorate, so in the same way he brings district outsiders to straw polls, he’ll bring party outsiders to further his agenda. (Look at how his team openly courts dems and resisters!!!)
