Who would have thought that Delaware had the stingiest tippers in the country? Who knew that Alaskans are very generous tippers? [read_more]California doesn’t have generous tippers, possibly because residents have little disposable income due to their ridiculously high taxes. Just a guess.

Well, if Virginia is at 15% then we are tipping too much. Service across the board has declined. People seem to be unhappy to be working at their job or simply don’t understand the term “service.”
About a year ago my wife and I started to steer clear of places with waitstaff. We’ve become frustrated with having to leave any tip for receiving sub-standard service 3 out of 4 times. There are still some good waitstaff, but they are usually at the upper end of the price scale. Your average diner fares poorly in table service.
Part of me wonders if it has to do with notsosmart phones? Folks want to hide in the corner and text friends instead of paying attention to the customers around them.
