Corey Stewart, like him or love him or hate him, is one of the most controversial people in Virginia politics today. Some people blame him for Trump’s loss in 2016, and many on Team Gillespie blame him for the loss in the 2017 gubernatorial elections by not getting on board with Team Gillespie sooner. Quite a few think he’s a card-carrying member of the KKK. Others think that Corey is a virtual demigod who will lead Virginia Republicans out of the wilderness and back to victory. I am sorry to tell everyone this, but Corey Stewart is neither the devil, nor is he a bogeyman, nor is he the 2nd coming of the Messiah. But he is an effective communicator, able servant of Prince William County, and a personal friend. And a guy I am proud to support for the US Senate.
Before we go any farther, I am aware of the knocks on Corey. Let’s address these one by one
1st – Corey is ambitious and only out for himself. Yes he is ambitious – never met a person running for public office or a CEO or any successful person who isn’t ambitious. Corey is ambitious yes, but he’s ambitious for the right reasons. Among them a desire to see our Republic remain a Republic. And he wants to be the guy leading the charge.
2nd – Corey has had some policy position changes that are, shall we say, “convenient”. 100% agreed, Corey has changed his mind on the importance of preserving our national and state heritage. In reply, I say these words. THANK GOD! People change positions all the time as they evolve and as they mature, or as they learn new information. Yes Corey did assist in the renaming of a PW County school because it was named after a segregationist. But Donald Trump used to be a Democrat before he became a Republican. I used to be staunchly pro choice before I became pro life. Does that mean Donald Trump and I are liars and charlatans as well? So we should congratulate Corey for seeing the correctness of standing for Virginia heritage and acting on it.
3rd – Some of his supporters are obnoxious. Yep. Can’t argue with that one. Several of them are personal friends of mine, a few others are too despicable to even mention their names. Politics has the unique ability to bring out some “unique” characters. But while some Corey supporters are true nuts, they pale in comparison many others I’ve met. And at least Corey Stewart supporters will work. Where most other so called “activists” sit around accomplishing nothing and praise themselves for all the hard work they do.
Now let’s take one of the most controversial Corey supporters in Congressional District 6, Dean Peterson of Page County. Dean and I are best friends who occasionally knock heads. But like Dean or hate him, Dean busts his hump for the cause. So I’d rather have an occasionally obnoxious Dean Peterson who will work, as opposed to an arrogant snob who does nothing and then insults the supporters of another candidate. Each Corey Stewart supporter should be praised for their devotion to their guy and their cause. I have publicly praised the Corey Stewart supporters on TBE and will do so in the future. We need more hustlers like them. That is how we take back Virginia.
4th – There’s Campaign Corey and Election Corey. Being an anti tax advocate, the tax hikes in Prince William give me cause for concern. But blaming Corey Stewart 100% for the actions of an entire Board of Supervisors is ridiculous. Politics and governing are tough chores. The fact is that Corey Stewart is the Chair of the County Board of Supervisors, an up and coming fast growing county, which is trying to fund infrastructure all through Prince William. I hardly think that he would be a tax and spend liberal like Tim Kaine in Washington. Governing is tough business. And there is no 100% ideologically pure person. Never has been – and never will be. And if you think there is such a thing, I got a bridge to sell you really cheap.
5th – Corey is a racist. Being a non-white – I can and will address this with 2 words. One beginning with letter B and the other beginning with the letter S. Bovine Scatology. Having experienced true racism in my life, I can attest with 100% knowledge that Corey is not a racist. Corey is one of the most open and non racist people I have ever met. The fact that Corey does not believe in affirmative action does not make him a racist – to the contrary, it proves he is not one. The fact that Corey believes in the rule of law when it comes to illegal immigrants proves that he is not a racist.
Here are the reasons I am supporting Corey:
- Corey is right on the issues: Be them pro-life or taxes, or national defense or combating illegal immigration, Corey is on the right sides of all the issues. The US Senate needs Corey Stewart to support Trump’s agenda of lower taxes, lower regulation, and getting the wall built!!!
- Corey is disciplined and knows what he is doing. Contrary to what some of his detractors say and feel, Corey Stewart is not a bumbling buffoon who hangs out singing Dixie with the KKK. He is a smart disciplined candidate who talks well on the stump, and knows how to reach an audience. Yes he’s had a couple of bad weeks, but would you really prefer Antifa Tim Kaine as your Senator for the next 6 years?
- There is this crazy idea going around that politics is some gentleman’s sport in which people discuss ideas and they win or lose based on them. And these same people think that is how the US has always been. This is why Republicans lose. From the election of 1800 onwards, American politics, especially at the national level, is blood sport in which the person most likely to be the nastiest has the best chance of winning. Corey won’t be an honorable loser like John McCain in 2008 or Bob Dole in 1996. Corey will go after Tim Kaine and expose Kaine for being the swamp dwelling creep that he is. And do so over and over and over again. That is how you win elections.
- I LIKE COREY – Corey Stewart and his lovely wife Maria are the very best of what Virginia has to offer in both politics and I am privileged to call them my friends. He is very approachable and will like you whether you support him or not. Corey and I never lost our friendship even when I was working on behalf of Ed Gillespie. That shows the true character of the man. Compare this to other candidates for office who once they find out you’re not voting for them, treat you to your face like you’re a piece of trash. This shows the character of Corey Stewart. Simply put, we need more Corey Stewart’s in public office. Again as you can tell by my last name, I’m not a pure “white guy”. Corey loves having my support. Corey Stewart has no issues with my not being a 100% pure white guy.
This is why I’m voting for Corey Stewart. This is why I ask that you vote for Corey Stewart. And this is why, in honor of my friends Dean Peterson and Corey Crabill, I’ll be knocking on doors in Shenandoah County, making GOTV calls, and organizing volunteers for Corey Stewart and Ben Cline in the fall.
