It has been quite a few weeks in politics.
We have hacked emails, leaks, cover-ups, quid pro quo deals, and finally, the President himself suggesting that free speech is too much speech, and making a suggestion on what could fix that vexing problem.
First, the devastating email dumps from WikiLeaks continues. To date WikiLeaks has released nearly 17,000 internal emails hacked from Democratic godfather and Clinton Campaign manager John Podesta, to and from a who’s who list of Washington officialdom, the DNC, Party officials, and others in and out of government.
As a pattern, the emails released demonstrate the diabolical nature of the modern Democratic Party, its interconnected, unethical relationships with Big Media and major donors, and the supersized corruption of the current candidate for President, Hillary Clinton.
It could take months or even years to ferret out all of the subtle graft, pay to play schemes, connections and duplicity contained in the email exchanges.
However, the breadth of just what we do now know about the financial, moral and intellectual corruption of the political and corporate “ruling class” is simply jaw-dropping. Even the most previously cynical and suspicious among us have to be shocked by the maliciousness and dishonesty that has spilled out of the email revelations like the innards of a ruptured garbage bag.
This is what Washington has become; an ethical and moral cesspool where open corruption has entombed the political, corporate and media-entertainment “ruling class” like the Pyramids did the Pharaohs and their Queens. They look amazing on the outside, but everything inside is dead.
Newly released FBI documents only put an exclamation point on how the system now works in Washington. The released investigative notes from the FBI demonstrate that Under Secretary of State for Management, Patrick Kennedy, pressured both the FBI and State Department security officials to reclassify originally “classified” emails sent or received by then Secretary of State Clinton on her private server system, to “unclassified.” In addition, the language of the documents makes it abundantly clear that a quid pro quo was in play, where the future status of FBI international offices was a “payoff” for the reclassified documents.
This, of course, comes on top of the American people learning that the two primary guardians of the rule of law and justice, FBI Director James Comey and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, were as contemptuously corrupt as the Obama Administration they slavishly serve. So, very few people were too surprised.
For his part, the President in an impromptu answer to a question about the reported quid pro quo was quick to throw the FBI under the bus, stating bizarrely that there “isn’t any evidence of that at all.” Presumably, the FBI’s own documents don’t count with this President.
All of this must give the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue bad heartburn. President Obama – a man for whom the truth is only a theoretical possibility – told the American people over a year ago that he only learned of Mrs. Clinton’s private email server, “like everyone else, when I read it in the newspaper.”
But, in fact, we have now learned through the WikiLeaks dump that the President corresponded with his Secretary of State on that private system using a nom de plume; liar to liar as it were. Of course, any “classified” communication by U.S. officials – received or responded to – using a non-secure server system is illegal, so one must wonder at the President’s own culpability in all of this.
And speaking of the President; while the gale winds of the current elections were blowing back and forth, the President last week in Pittsburgh went on a disturbing rant on free speech – using that term as a red herring – once again displaying the radical left’s dangerous fascination – its constant meme – with modifying the Bill of Rights to accommodate the “will to power” of the socialist-Marxist ideologies, of which Mr. Obama is an adherent.
The President (a self-described Constitutional law professor) declared, “We are going to have to rebuild within this wild-wild-west-of-information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to.”
He went on to explain how there had to be clearinghouse functions put in place, where everyone could have confidence that information they were receiving was based on facts.
Radical leftists, like our President and like the woman who wants to succeed him, always have a first inclination or reaction on any given subject that is intellectually socialist-Marxist in orientation. The government is always the default answer, never the individual nor self-reliance.
They look at the current suffocation of free speech in Europe with pea-green envy.
Which brings us again to the WikiLeak email dumps and the terrifying reality of how these people work outside of the public spotlight – what they really think and what they really say when the average citizen can’t hear them.
This election is about so much more than Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The last few weeks just clarify – again – that is really about whether there is hope for the concept of the rule of law, and sanctity of the Bill of Rights and so much more we have taken for granted for generations.
The first Tuesday of next month may be a moment we can’t turn back from if our choices don’t live up to our heritage.

Consider that this corruption is at the highest levels of government but also reaches down into the bureaucracy. The FBI, the IRS, the department of state, and who knows what else is now pitted against the American citizenry. Not only do we have to get rid of the corrupt politicians but their human tentacles at lower levels as well. This is time to purge government and prevent the coup that will destroy America as a nation. No more Comeys but also no more Lois Lerners.
And what is the answer? The corruption is so overwhelming, what do we do? The Republicans in Congress have, so far, done nothing in the face of this corruption. Are they hiding something too? Probably.
The only answer I can come up with is to vote for Trump and hope he goes in their like a bull in a china shop and starts smashing things up.
My god father who was in elected politics most of his adult life and spent many, many years from the Nixon administration on in DC always told me one easy solution to breaking the grip of special interest and federal bureaucratization was to return to the early colonial days of rotating the location of the national seat of government. I always thought he was joking but he claimed the worst decision ever made at a dinner reconciliation get together was when Pres. Washington, and Sec’ts. Jefferson and Hamilton worked out the compromise to permanently place the nation’s capital on the Potomac.
Move the thing every ten or twenty years and you will shake out a massive amount of federal employee overhead, unbind the glommed on consultancies and institutionalized influence peddling and what do you really lose in the end a few monuments and some over priced office space. Can’t be done? Wrong, multi billion dollar corporations are relocating facilities and headquarters all the time with little to no discontinuity in operations.
Today’s federal government is largely information management via high end computerization and 535 voting members that in effect spend very little time actually working in the district after recesses, vacations and home turf re-election campaigning anyway. If you can’t beat it “drain it”!
Make it like the national Olympics and open state and city bidding periodically to host the capital. when the same old problems begin to reassert themselves in the new location once again just open bidding to move on. Nothing done in Washington, DC can’t just as effectively be done in Kansas City, Miami or Phoenix and I would almost guarantee the significant cost reductions will more then cover the relocation expense and I fail to see how you can screw something up that is not working anyway. And by the way you might want to include a twelve year fixed term limitation on all elected congressional members along with thier travel coupons as well.
I like it. I don’t know how to implement it, but I like it. I’ve always thought that that we’d have a better federal government if it was decentralized (have the Agencies headquartered all around the country instead of in DC). But, a moving capital is even better and the “travelling circus” moniker would be so apropos.
Maybe rotate it between state capitals? You don’t need to re-build it, you just share space for a designated time?
Dumbest thing I have heard in quite a while. These slimy bastards would follow the Treasury like a rat follows a turd.
You will come around to my way of thinking in a few years or less.
