Press Release:
Tonight, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears held a press conference calling on Jay Jones to drop out of the Virginia Attorney General race.
“Jay Jones is the poster child for the Democrat establishment and he fantasizes about murdered little children laying lifeless in their mother’s arms,” Earle-Sears said.
In 2022, Jay Jones sent text messages to a state legislator colleague about then House Speaker Todd Gilbert, suggesting that if there were “three people, two bullets… Gibert gets two bullets to the head” and declared Gilbert and his wife were raising “little fascists”.
Earle-Sears also acknowledged other Democrats who have used hateful rhetoric, including her opponent, Abigail Spanberger, saying:
“My opponent Abigail Spanberger urges, often, for her supporters to fill their hearts with violent hate. “Let your rage fuel you,” she says. “Let your rage fuel you.” Words have meaning.”
She then called on Jay Jones to drop out, noting that those standing with him are complicit, and condemning the language isn’t enough:
“Let me be clear: Spanberger’s continuing support for Jay Jones is disqualifying for higher office. She and her party’s irresponsible behavior have brought us to this point.”
As a reminder, in 2019, Abigail Spanberger and other elected Virginia democrats unanimously called on then sitting Governor Ralph Northam to resign following a scandal regarding a compromising decades old yearbook photo.
The question is, will they do the same with Jay Jones, who sent those messages only three years ago?
If not, what changed?
Hint: it’s their radical ideology.
