We have some strange traditions in Virginia. Our colleges have their own set of weird customs like streaking the lawn at UVA, and the snow ball battle between VA Tech Cadets and civilians on the drill field. At William and Mary a relationship sealed with a kiss on Crim Dell Bridge.
The Civil War is long over but the war between Northern Virginia and Southern Virginia rages on.
We LOVE our pineapples and incorporate them into as much home decor as possible from candlesticks and trivets to door wreaths.
In Virginia we love Blue Crabs and Oysters in any form, raw, steamed, and fried. We also love coffee mixed with pork drippings to pour all over everything. We call it ‘red-eye’ gravy.
We have miles of shoreline but we have a thing about OBX, the Outer Banks. Many of us drive right by Virginia beaches to get to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Virginians love to play dress up,
We like peanuts in our Cokes which may well be Pepsi. Every soft drink is ‘coke’.
Virginians love the Redskins even though the team plays in Maryland and is known as the Washington Redskins.
Our flag has a half naked woman on it and we’re fine with that.
And finally, we NO NOT have an accent. Anywhere. In the entire state.
