Earlier this week, Brad Skipper, the Chair of the Shenandoah County Democrat Party, published a rather surreal Op-Ed in the Northern Virginia Daily, this in response to my Op-Ed talking about why we should be honoring Confederate Soldiers such as Stonewall Jackson.
Most of what Mr. Skipper said was a word salad that made little sense. However one part of what Mr. Skipper wrote was rather telling, and a lesson for all of us, on just what the Democrat party has become. Mr. Skipper said, and I quote:
Traitors and White Supremacists shouldn’t get buildings named after them. My ancestor, Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger, led a revolt against Queen Mary the 1st in early 1554. He was convicted of treason and executed in April of that year. There are no buildings named for him, because there was nothing honorable in what he did,
Let us think on what Mr. Skipper both said and feels towards anyone who stands up to a tyrant. Queen Mary 1, aka Bloody Mary (she got that moniker by murdering hundreds of Protestants in the name of the Catholic Church) was taken on by Mr. Skipper’s ancestor, Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger. Sir Thomas the Younger was a rather competent military commander, and earned the praise of the French Ambassador. Sir Thomas lost his rebellion, and was put to death by the Tyrant Queen Mary. So according to Mr. Skipper – it is ok for Queen Mary of England to kill Protestants in the name of God, and if someone stands up to the Bloody Mary, that person (again who happens to be Mr. Skipper’s ancestor) is a traitor.
Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence these words:
That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,—That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.
One must wonder what Mr. Skipper and his followers would have done during the American Revolution? The answer is rather obvious.
The Welsh have an old proverb that goes something like this: Shame on the man who does not love the country which nurtured him. Truer words were never spoken.
The words from the Shenandoah County Democrat Chair are rather telling. And their minions believe these words. That all power is derived from government, and that one must be a boot licking slave to that Government or they are a traitor. Think if you had been descended from Sir Thomas Wyatt the Younger? Most likely you’d have been proud of what he tried to accomplish. For those of us who are members of Sons/Daughters of the Confederacy/Confederate Veteran’s, we are doing God’s work by honoring our ancestors. This is not in defense of slavery, but is clearly speaking against a slavery that the modern day Democrats are trying to impose on each of us.

Here is my Op-Ed, which set off so many Democrats. You may agree or disagree with what I said, but note the differences in tone between what I wrote, and what the Democrats write and how they act.
