The world will not see their type again anytime soon. We have always had brave men and women, yet far too often they have been undermined by feckless political leadership. As we honor the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy (American, British, and Canadian), we need to not only remember their struggle to survive and conquer, but we must also remember that victory was not assured. No one knew this better than Supreme Allied Commander Dwight Eisenhower.
Eisenhower wrote down the following notes which were to be dictated in case of failure. They read as follows:
“Our landings in the Cherbourg-Havre area have failed to gain a satisfactory foothold and I have withdrawn the troops. My decision to attack at this time and place was based upon the best information available. The troops, the air and the Navy, did all that bravery and devotion to duty could do. If any blame or fault attaches to the attempt, it is mine alone.”
We as a nation have survived in spite of ourselves and those we vote into office. We have survived weak leaders like Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, and Andrew Johnson. Woodrow Wilson helped give us not only a financial depression, and in allowing for “peace without victory” in 1918 let the Germans believe that they didn’t lose WWI, and thus gave us Hitler, and WWII. Black Jack Pershing, overall American commander in WWI, and Ferdinand Foch (French Commander) both said this is not a peace, but a 20 year cease fire.
We survived the disaster of Vietnam, and the mind numbingly stupid decisions of neocons like Paul Wolfowitz, John McCain, and Bill Kristol who took us into the Iraq War of 2003, and then lied to us and themselves about the real situation in Iraq, and helped snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
To honor the sacrifices of the heroes of D-Day, to honor the sacrifices of the Bedford Boys, we need strong leadership like we had during WWII with Eisenhower.
Some words to think on from George Patton on the sacrifices of the WWII veterans:
It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
There are no words which can describe the debt we owe to these heroic men. From those of the 506th Parachute Infantry, to the Bedford Boys (who suffered greatly storming the beaches), to the UK boat drivers who got our troops onto the beaches, to the Canadian and UK troops who stormed Juno, Sword, and Gold beaches – and to those whose units and names we will never know, we thank you and honor you for your sacrifices.
Great News From the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia
Many of us have been rightly worried about a law passed in 2021 by the Democrats, saying that Virginia’s automobile requirements should be the same as California’s by the year 2035. Meaning that by the year 2035, we would need to all be driving electric vehicles. This law, forget being unconstitutional, is blatantly stupid. The Virginia state government does not have the right to tell us what type of vehicles we can drive.
However our own Jason Miyares, Attorney General of Virginia, has shown true courage, and is taking on the environmental extremists by saying that the law which required Electric Vehicles (EV’s) only, is unconstitutional and also was enacted improperly. Here is AG Miyares’ statement on Twitter:
Virginia’s Air Pollution Control Board adopted California’s Advanced Clean Cars Program I (ACC I) in 2021. However, Virginia’s Air Pollution Control Board never approved or adopted California’s newest vehicle emissions regulation, Advanced Clean Cars Program II (ACC II). Because ACC I expires at the end of 2024, Virginia will revert back to the federal standards on January 1st, 2025.
Here we have real leadership. AG Miyares could have just stood by and allowed the Democrats to destroy our economy, yet Mr. Miyares is taking on the leftists and not being ashamed of doing so. Thank you Jason Miyares for standing up for us average Virginians.

Yes, thank you, Attorney General Miyares, for your courage to free Virginia from such insane, costly bureaucratic rules.
