They say it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind. Within days Senator Amanda Chase did just that. After announcing on December 5th that she would run for Governor as an Independent she has now decided to run for Governor at the Republican Convention scheduled for Spring 2021.
I’ve been listening to the people for the past week, and they want me to run as a Republican,†Chase said moments after the video went live. “And so that’s the big announcement. I am going to fully seek the Republican nomination. I am not going to run as an independent.â€
Chase explained that “obvious reasons,†specifically the long odds of an independent winning the governor’s race, led to her decision. While conceding that taking part in the GOP convention was the best opportunity available, Chase shared her concerns with the convention process.
“I think it should be an easy process. One of my reasons for supporting a primary, people are familiar with the process,†Chase said. “They simply go to their local polling location, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., and cast their vote.â€
