Congresswoman Barbara Comstock has given away a $3,000 donation from Donald Trump to her campaign. She gave the money to two recuperation centers in her district that help wounded veterans, Boulder Crest and Bull Run Warriors retreats.
Comstock’s choice for President was Marco Rubio and her district supported him the primary. She has not chosen another candidate since Rubio withdrew from the race. Nor has she said whether or not she will support Trump if he is the party’s nominee.
Comstock’s opponent, Lu Ann Bennett, has tried to tie her to Trump but that hasn’t stuck.
In December Comstock spoke out against Trump’s idea to ban all muslims from entering the country,
“It’s unconstitutional. It’s un-American,” she said on “The John Fredericks Show,” a conservative talk-radio show. “It is a silly idea, and it makes no sense,” Comstock said. “It shows a lack of understanding of our basic constitutional systems but also a lack of understanding of the terrorist threat.”
