On Saturday five states chose delegates for the national convention and once again Cruz dominated. In Maine, Cruz took 19 of the 20 delegates at stake.
In Kentucky 25 party leaders and insiders were chosen as delegates. The Presidential campaigns were not permitted participation in this rather odd convention. It is thought these party insiders, including Gov. Matt Bevin, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Rand Paul, will not be favorable to Trump but will support Ted Cruz on second and subsequent ballots in Cleveland.
In Minnesota three district chose 3 delegates in each one. Cruz swept all nine.
In South Carolina one district held a convention where Cruz got one delegate, Kasich won one, and the third delegate was uncommitted.
In Utah 38 delegates were chosen for the national convention. Cruz won 37.
The bottom line, of the 94 delegates available on Saturday, Cruz won 65, and that doesn’t include delegates in Kentucky.
