Former Republican Del. Dave LaRock is considering a run for Governor after a grassroots campaign began earlier this week. Waverly Woods began the campaign and rumor has it that she will manage it. Dave was a Loudoun County delegate for 10 years prior to a move to Clark County where he ran and lost to Timmy French in a primary for state senate.
From Virginia Scope:
“There seems to be a pretty good grassroots push in that direction, and people collecting signatures to that effect,” LaRock said in an interview with Virginia Scope on Wednesday. “That’s probably about as much as I want to say at this point.”
Waverly Woods began the campaign and rumor has it she will manage it. Also from the Scope, Woods said:
“Honestly, my phone’s been blowing up,” she said in an interview with Virginia Scope. “I thought [LaRock] was an amazing legislator. He has a great track record, and I’m hoping we can convince him to do it. This is a real grassroots movement, and I’m happy to get people motivated to do it.”
“I literally just started today,” she continued. “I just got engaged in it today. That’s just me. I don’t know how many other people were doing something somewhere else. The scuttle was going around, and I was like, ‘I’m grabbing this bull by the horns.’”
LaRock will need 10,000 signatures with 400 from each congressional district by April 3rd to get on the Virginia primary ballot to challenge the declared Republican candidate, Lt. Governor Winsome Sears. Woods is unconcerned about getting the signatures.
“I’ve done this before,” she said. “I’ve totally done this before. And here’s the other thing: he’s well known. It’s not like I’m bringing in an absolute nobody to try and convince them.”

what i find interesting about this is that Larock violated the Republican pledge by waging an independent write in campaign for himself for State Senate after Timmy French beat him in an 8-way primary in June 2023. Larock actively campaigned because the results show some 8.8 percent of people in that senate district voted write in. https://thebullelephant.com/say-no-to-larocks-campaign-for-governor/ But Sears is disliked by a HUGE number of activists because she violated the “Trump pledge”| by not endorsing him and telling folks to vote for another nominee. Chase claims to be “Trump in Heels,” but she also ran afoul of the GOP. So, today, the Republican Pledge means little but the Trump Pledge is all important. Go figure
I would limit all donation’s to no more than $100 dollars as a compromise. You do realize Dominion Energy is making millionaires in the Virginia GA? How long before it is Billionaires? No, bribes were not the way of this country from the beginning. I would ask someone to document your statement on they have always been. Bribes in politics may have actually started in the 1950’s. But, really did not take off to any ridiculous level until the late 1990’s. I hope you realize that you are paying these bribes in your electric bill? I’d call on Winsome Sears to do the right thing and return the $176,000 to Dominion Energy. Tell them thanks but no thanks. I would strongly object to labeling anyone who sells legislation like a pack of cigarettes or bottle of booze in the Virginia General Assembly as anything but a crook. If it is righteous money why will legislators not say what they are doing for the loot? In fact, they refuse to even discuss their take of the loot. Let’s see who Trump supports. Basically, isn’t nearly the entire Virginia General Assembly and Governors office now controlled by the CEO of Dominion Energy? Just curious, if someone lobbied successfully (with bribes) to the Virginia GA to increase the personal property tax rate in Virginia on aircraft ownership to the same an automobile, would you say that is righteous too? As far as SCOTUS goes, at least one justice took $4 million in VACA’s from a billionaire. That about says it all. Would it not be hypocritical for the Supreme Court to not allow Congress to do what they themselves are also doing?
Sears has hired Niki Haley’s consultants – not a good look for someone who already is distrusted by MAGA.
When will DOGE style & Anti-Illegal Immigration Republican Representatives & Candidates emerge?
As I always say;
Richmond is the overflow pond to the Swamp.
As DC empties itself it is only logical for the sucubusses of America to migrate to Richmond.

First things first, based on that picture, he, or someone in his group needs to learn how to tie a full Windsor knot.
Technically that knot it called the “four in hand” and is still perfectly acceptable as a professional tie. That said, he needs to tighten it a bit and reposition it so that the collar above it is not showing.
Where Waverly Woods is, Chris and Diana Shores can’t be far behind. All of them were on Bob Good’s payroll and now need jobs.
I don’t know LaRock’s motivation for running, but I will NEVER support any candidate who hires Woods, Bonnie & Clyde (Shores), or the rest of their “CONsultants” gang of hoodlums.
I am no fan of Sears but LaRock has little chance of winning. The CONsultant cartel will run him anyway for money. Remember your donations feed these grifters.
Governor Youngkin has already endorsed Winsome Sears his Lt. Governor. We need a United Republican Party!
Money does not need to be wasted on a primary!
Larock deciding to run is a stupid and selfish move.
I predict that whatever he runs for he will lose. He was a VERY sore loser when he lost the Senate Race to Timmy French last year. He blamed everyone but him self. The voters will reject him again.
So once again we will have Republican fratricide as Governor Youngkin has already endorsed Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears. Sorry but this selfish move will ensure a Democrat will be next in line to occupy the Executive Mansion. As Pogo said, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.
I agree. I received the email that had LaRock’s petition. I discarded it. Winsome should be the next Governor and should run unopposed. One wonders if the fact that Sears is a black woman had anything to do with this sudden issue.
Yes Sir !
One very important thing about Dave LaRock, he is NOT in bed with Dominion Energy. That may end any chance he has to become a serious contender. Winsome appears to be on the Dominion Energy Train. Dave LaRock appears on tracks in front of the Domion Energy train. If LaRock refuses Dominion Energy’s loot, I’d vote for him. I’m not supporting the continuation of Dominion Energy’s ruling Virginia with an iron fist. Yes, Youngkin is Governor, but Dominion Energy is in charge. Youngkin is certainly no Trump. He does not deserve to be president. Speaker Don Scott and Minority Leader Todd Gilbert combined, have taken right at $4,000,000 from the Dominion Energy ruling regime. How crooked is that? Who are they really working for? I will not support Winsome Sears because she is just another Dominion Energy puppet.
Your accusation against Lt Gov Sears begs the question. How, exactly, is she “in bed” with Dominion Energy?
So far, she has taken $176,000 from Dominion Energy. Source, VPAP. I would really like to post the links but TBE does not allow it anymore. Mr. LaRock, $3500 which is actually an insult. Sears Dominion Energy numbers will undoubtedly climb if they haven’t already. (Unreported) But do not worry, Virginia Speaker Don Scott, over $2 million from Dominion Energy. Minority Leader Todd Gilbert, over $1.8 million Dominion Energy dollars. She has a long way to go to catch them! Virginia has its “Garden of Evil”. The Serpent in that Garden of Evil is Dominion Energy. Who do you think the Virginia GA is really working for?
I challenge anyone to ask any Virginia crooked politician what they are doing for Dominion Energy that is worth that kind of loot and get any answer. You will not get an answer. I hope you understand that the money is basically theirs as long as they follow the rules regarding reporting what they do with it. And, to the best of my knowledge, it is also tax free.
I responded to your question and would greatly appreciate your thoughts about those taking the loot from Dominion Energy, and who is really running Virginia? Here are couple more, Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovel $500,572 from Dominion Energy, Del. Terry Kilgore 45th District, $1,018,319 Domion Energy dollars, (Source VPAP) For what are they being paid for? BestWishes!
I read both of your replies. Thank you for a cogent and reasonable response. I would ask you one question. Do you want to stop all corporate political donations? The Supreme Court has already ruled that corporations have the right to donate. Yes it is a fact that they hope to receive favorable treatment from the politicians. Such has been the way of it since the founding of the country. I do object to you labelling them as “puppets” or necessarily “crooked”. In my opinion La Rock is running not for the good of VA but for his own promotion. I supported Youngkin and Sears. I will support Sears. Thanks you for an honest discussion.
