To the delegate from Hanover, opposition to Medicaid expansion is just like Byrd-era racism
Since Speaker Cox announced his “deal” on Medicaid expansion, Del. Peace has been an aggressive and in your face advocate for the program. Today he took his attacks on fellow Republicans to an entirely new level.
In a tweet this morning, Del. Peace wrote,
“On the eve of the prospective end of a second ‘Massive Resistance’ in this Commonwealth, be encouraged, do not fear the fear-mongers, instead take heart that after years of legislative debate, the process gives way to our better angels with full Transformation.”
That’s right. Opposition to Medicaid expansion under Obamacare is just like Massive Resistance, the organized effort to maintain institutionalized racism and segregation led by Virginia Democrats in the 1950s and 1960s. Peace used similar language in a Facebook post which he later edited to sound more “spiritual.”
This is on the day the Virginia Senate is expected to expand Medicaid. It is one thing to have a policy debate. It is one thing for the Speaker of the House to lead a large part of the House caucus in supporting a program his party has long opposed. However, Del. Peace has taken this betrayal to an incredible low.
Republicans remember the attacks leveled against them by the radical left last year. We remember when Sen. Rubio and Ed Gillespie were monstrously protested as racist in the days leading up to the Gubernatorial election. We remember when Del. Rocky Holcomb was painted as a racist. We remember the vile Ralph Northam ad painting Ed Gillespie and his supporters as wanting to run down minorities with their trucks.
Today, Del. Peace chose to join the ranks of the vile left that paints their opponents as racist when they are out of ideas.
Simply deleting this tweet is not enough. Del. Peace owes an apology to the majority of his caucus who have been the bulwark against the financial ruin that will be caused by Medicaid expansion.
It is time for Speaker Cox to show leadership and strip Del. Peace of his Chairmanship of General Laws for this attack. Leaders need to lead and show there are consequences for this vile behavior.
Conservatives around the state need to watch this seat in 2019, and support the good conservatives in Hanover who will insist that an actual conservative represent them in the House of Delegates.

So, I suppose when he previously voted against expansion Del. Peace was a part of “Massive Resistance” as well.
Virginia Republicans, you cannot trust your GOP pretend representatives any longer.
Where do I find that tweet? I’ll probably blog on it, too as I live in Hanover.
How do I find the original tweet? Sandy Sanders from Virginia Right
The sad legacy of #EunuchEd. So glad I moved to NC instead of VA.
Donald Trump, Roseanne Barr, and Corey Stewart walked into a bar.
Because they’d set it so low.
And accidentally stepped on B. Obama, Hillary Clinton, and James Comey.
What a sanctimonious boob. Most people expect more of Hampden-Sydney men.
I heard when Washington and Lee sends an applicant a rejection letter, they include a Hampden Sydney application in the envelope. Is this really true?
Funny, Charlie.
Actually, I heard (affirmatively) from W&L before I heard from H-SC. I suppose I could have gone there and been member of the last class with balls, but then I would have missed the opportunity to get to know Robert E. Lee V (H-SC ’86) and a Rhodes Scholar in our class.
Is a “full transformation” anything like a ‘Fundamental Transformation?’
Exactly. And strange that he capitalized it as well, just like a good leftist.
I expect after some Republicans and Democrats use Stewart and pictures of The Confederate Flag as a claim of racism the next in line will be the Don’t Tread on Me Flag.
Racism appears to be the easy charge to discredit someone or a political side for another’s gain.
The Confederate Flag is a Democrat symbol. Why Stewart stood under it still makes me wonder what he was doing. Was he identifying as a Democrat? Am I missing something?

The Confederate Flag is a Confederate symbol. Some see it as heritage, some see it as hate. There are people who want to use the flag as propaganda and there are people who don’t want to erase history.
So that makes Corey is a racist… right?
It is true the South was Democrat at the time of the Civil War.
Now the Democrats desire for
immigrants to have work permits and bring forth legislation (hb1106) to assist the Commonwealth of Virginia in ending modern day labor exploitatation and fraud.
Why are the Republicans running from bills like that?
Capital is the fruit of one’s labor , labor is not the fruit of Capital.
The Party of Lincoln, HA! my big Ole hairy redneck Virginia butt.
The Republicans are the Party of Equality, as they always have been. It is Democrats today, like Democrats back then, who (for example with their shameful support for Amnesty and DACA and DAPA) are saying that “some people” from “some countries” are morally inferior and thus incapable of following the same laws as everyone else.
Democrats ought to be ashamed of themselves, calling for different laws for different people. There are work permit programs available for people who wish to come to the United States and work. But any immigrants who think they are too good and can’t be bothered to follow those pesky immigration laws should be given the boot and sent back to the nation of their citizenship.
It is love for people that lies behind Republican calls for equality. You cannot say you love everyone, and you certainly cannot say you want “justice” of any kind if you refuse to treat everyone equally.
Democrats (as always) hate equality, and they hate the idea of unifying everyone who is American under the simple name “American.” This is why Democrats insist upon diminishing and dividing some people with hyphens. What Democrat hyphens actually tell people is that they are less than a full American. It is sick.
If this piece of work is what passes for a Republican in Virginia, this state will stay blue for a LONG time.
