UPDATE: Mark Obenshain is now ahead by only 120 votes. Story here.
Last night the Washington Post reported a discrepancy in absentee votes in Fairfax County. In the 8th district part of the county only half of the requested absentee ballots were returned and counted. No other county in the state had an absentee ballot return rate that low. In the 11th district of part of the county the return rate for absentee ballots 86% and in the 10th district part of Fairfax the return rate was 86%. Clearly some absentee ballots have not been counted in the 8th district of Fairfax. The Fairfax Electoral board will be investigating this today. It could amount to several thousand absentee ballots that have not been counted. Since the 8th district is heavily democrat the majority of those votes would go to Mark Herring in Attorney General’s race. That could completely change the race and put Mark Herring on top. Read the whole story here.
(Why are democrats always able to find votes after a very close election? In whose trunk or closet will the votes be found?)
