McDonnell told us that his ‘transportation plan’ would result in a 17 cent reduction in gas prices at the pump while our sales tax would increase. In northern Virginia that sales tax increase was 20%. We now pay 6 cents on every dollar we spend, up from 5 cents. Most of the rest of the state is now paying 5.3%. So how did that decrease in gas prices on July 1st work for you? I bet you didn’t notice it, because it didn’t happen. Nor will it happen. We will see no decrease in gas prices, only an increase in sales tax, as well as additional taxes when buy or sell a house or car, and many other new taxes. More here on that ‘reduction’ in gas prices that we were promised, the one that McDonnell is so proud of.
Did you enjoy that reduction in gas prices on July 1st?
