Blue Virginia has an excellent article about delegates and state senators who are paired or even tripled in their new districts. Of the 100 House of Delegates districts, 42 are paired or tripled. In the Senate, half of the incumbents, 20, are paired. See the above link for all the details.
Interactive maps of all the new districts, House of Delegates, State Senate, and Congressional, can be found here. On the bottom of that page, VPAP has done a breakdown of shifting voters in each new Congressional District.
Incumbent Rep. Abagail Spanberger will seek re-election in the newly configured 7th district even though she doesn’t live in the district and has fewer of her current constituents in the new district than Congressmen Wittman and Connolly. A larger number of her voters are now in the 1st district. The new 7th district will look like this:
Current Districts | Voting Age Population |
---|---|
District 1(Wittman) | 257,530 |
District 5(Good) | 26,911 |
District 7(Spanberger) | 146,365 |
District 11(Connolly) | 154,430 |
1st district:
Current Districts | Voting Age Population |
---|---|
District 1(Wittman) | 256,012 |
District 2(Luria) | 90,917 |
District 4(McEachin) | 2,736 |
District 7(Spanberger) | 261,053 |
