Tonight the 5 Republican candidates for Senate met in a very well run forum organized by the Loudoun County Republican Committee.
The 5 candidates, Eddie Garcia, Hung Cao, Scott Parkinson, Chuck Smith, and Jonathan Emord were all strong candidates and very respectful of each other.
Eddie Garcia wants to expand our party by appealing to more blue collar workers because we are the party of the people. Securing the border and school choice, with the money following the child, were issues for all the candidates. All candidates were also pro-life. Chuck Smith pointed out our General Assembly funds Planned Parenthood even when Republicans are in control and that needs to stop. Emord and Cao stressed adoption should be more available. Emord would like a flat tax of 10% when the taxpayer makes $200,000. Most of the candidates supported much of what Trump did while in office, particularly on closing the border and his foreign policy.
All 5 candidates were impressive and any one of them would make us proud in a race against our current do nothing Senator, Tim Kaine.
The results of the straw poll:
Jonathan Emord 64 votes
Hung Cao 30
Eddie Garcia 25
Chuck Smith 16
Scott Parkinson 5

Jonathan Emord is obsessed with winning the straw poll. Emord purchase tickets at tables in the recent straw poll to make sure he will win! Last year, Emord purchased 10 tables but he did not win. Hung purchased 1 table and he won even though he wasn’t trying to.
Both Emord and Garcia have high negatives in their race. They both according to the recent FEC filing owe their campaigns more money than they actually raised. Emord can keeping spreading lies but it doesn’t change how the folks in Va feel about him.
Emord is so obsessed with Hung that some of us coined the phrase,”Cao Derangement Syndrome.”
Hung Cao according to a well known pollster has a 66% chance of winning.
Good story, Jeanine, however, I think I would provide a little more information about the winner, who beat the next two contestants combined. The third-place contestant got the most information given to him.
Probably the most important thing to note is that Jonathan Emord uniquely has a track record of beating the deep state in court. It’s not just theoretical rhetoric, Jonathan has proven himself for decades!
The effect of a flat tax would have a huge positive impact on the U.S. economy while reducing net taxes paid. Many people have studied and written about the positive effect of a flat tax, to include an increase in Gov’t revenue, and less income taxes spent on nonsense – PLUS TAX RELIEF. This would include an increased focus on U.S. GDP vs. the focus on spending as it is today. Moreover, using some of the tax laws in place now and adding an income point for a “step up” to flat tax is winner for all incomes.
Any of the listed Republican candidates, if elected, would result in a significantly improved U.S. Senate Representative.
