Loudoun School Board elections are scheduled for next year, 2023. Governor Youngkin has signed a bill that would move those elections up to this November’s ballot.
On his first day in office, Youngkin signed an executive order authorizing the Virginia Attorney General to investigate Loudoun County Schools for its mishandling of the two sexual assaults that occurred last year at two high schools. After the first sexual assault in a girl’s bathroom, Loudoun Schools transferred the perpetrator to another high school where he assaulted a second girl in a bathroom.
Governor Youngkin’s amendment to HB1138:
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, elections for all nine districts of the Loudoun County School Board shall be held on November 5, 2022. Thereafter, the lot drawing conducted pursuant to 22.1-57.3:1.1 of the Code of Virginia by the Loudoun County Electoral Board to determine the members of four of nine districts who will be elected to the Loudoun County School Board for four-year terms and the members of the remaining five districts who will be elected to the Loudoun County School Board for two-year terms to ensure the staggering of member terms for such school board shall be conducted at the electoral board’s first meeting of 2023 but no later than January 31, 2023.
Loudoun County parent advocates have launched numerous petition drives to replace school board members. More on that story here.
Although the Governor signed the amendment to move Loudoun County School Board’s election to this year, it will not become law unless the General Assembly approves the changes when they meet again on April 27th.

What’s with private school? I thought Democrats had rules about not going after politicians’ children. Republicans do.
This is your last warning on name-calling and insults. Please try to engage in a civil discussion about the issues. I bet if you try you can do that but if not, buh-bye.
Stop with the name-calling. If you do not want to or don’t know how to participate in a civil debate, I will be forced to ban you.

[…] In other Loudoun County news, it comes as no surprise that the School Board has issued a statement opposing Governor Youngkin’s amendment to move up their elections to this November: […]
Interesting that Republicans have now shown that they will be fine with a Democratic Governor and Legislature rescheduling local elections whenever they perceive a political advantage and for whatever reason they can concoct. I am sure this precedent will prove very useful to future administrations.
That depends on how many rapist-enabling Democrat School Boards there are.
proving himself daily to be a real jerk
The folks have brought forth the petition.
The Governor is operating in the best interest of the safety of Loudoun County students.
To call The Governor a Jerk is absolutely the incorrect description. Protectors of sexual predators is the proper description that must be reserved and used for the Loudoun County School Board.
You must be new here. Eric the half a wit and John D Moron are regular anti’s infesting this page. Ignore them.
No I am not new just have not commented in some time.
You will soon hear these folks complain about the Governors policies that will come for SS minors from terrible homes. These folks (Democrats) will not want social reforms within the family home to create better futures for children yet will in a blink of an eye force social/sexual agendas upon intact healthy families.
We cannot ignore them, we must broaden their politically motivated narrow minds.
They shouldnt have let the corrupt Tiki Torch McAuliffe be such a Gestapo on education.
You recommend ignoring me and, apparently, you don’t. Wow, I dunno. Maybe like being stoned, sitting on the couch, recommending you never enjoy a few tokes. Weird
Yes todays Democrats have gone to pot.
I think it is probably illegal.
And, yeah, youngkin is a jerk.
I wonder how the year is going for his kids who attend an elite, private school
They’re not getting raped in the girls’ bathroom, a right that Gov. Youngkin wants to extend to public school students as well. Why would you oppose this?
nice ballsy move, but I don’t think the State Senate (Dem controlled will approve) unless the Democratic Party operatives see it to their advantage. I personally believe Republican candidates have a better chance to take control of the Loudoun School board in an off-cycle year, like 2023.
It will be interesting to see if this passes the legislature. My initial reaction was that the Democrats in the Senate would block it. On the other hand, the Loudoun County School Board has become so toxic and is such a political anchor for the Democratic Party that the other Virginia Democrats might just decide to cut them loose. We will find out in a couple of weeks.
Good point. This might be a trap similar to the one that Gov. DeSantis set in FL that the Dems eagerly charged head first into.
