This morning Governor Glenn Youngkin called Republican candidate for Lt. Governor, former radio talk show host, John Reid, to ask him to withdraw from the race after salacious photos of him, or someone using his screen name, were found on the internet. Reid denies the images were himself and his boyfriend.
Reid is the first openly gay person to run for statewide office in Virginia.
From TheRichmonder.com:
“In a statement to The Richmonder, Reid denied that the images are connected to him.
He confirmed that the governor called him Friday and said “there were salacious pictures on the internet reposted by an account that uses my Instagram handle.”
“As long as I have been in the public space, I have been a target for malicious and salacious lies,” Reid said. “This is the second overt attempt to try to force me from the race. I’ll have more to say later today.”
Should Reid withdraw, Republicans will have a chance to replace him on the ballot although the process for doing that is not clear.
