I was just recently employed by Liberty University as a Locksmith and I’ll start by saying I continue to this day to give God the Honor and Glory through thanksgiving for the honor to serve Him by serving others as I do my part in “Training Champions for Christ” putting forth the action in the words of the University’s volume speaking motto.
I have been reflecting since then and a lot more here recently on what I said during my interview with the University and that is, your team is as good as its players! Let’s use sports for example! While leadership (CEO, General Manager, Head Coach ect) play a pivotal role to the team or franchise in question which can very well make or break a team that strives for the victory.
However if the players (employees) don’t work together, lack communication and refuse to take ownership of his/her mistakes, then that team will only go downhill. While leadership is ultimately responsible for the team’s success or failure, the players must do their part as a group of individuals to assure victory.
And in almost every case, leadership makes the most impact on their players, by the way they set the example and by the way they display the contents of their character!
While this example could very well set the standard for the workplace, organization or even in the case of the church, there is one I have beenthinking about a lot lately and that is the leadership of the United States of America.
Very soon Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. And while this job of service is not his first rodeo as he previously served as the 45th President, he already has proven to the American people that he can indeed do the job as far as policy, diplomacy and governance is concerned.
Like every leader in the annals of American and World History, he (Trump) has his flaws and yes, even I as one of his biggest supporters since 2015 have disagreed with him on certain things he said and done and even with folks he’s endorsed or put in his administration. But he has shown me and millions of Americans that he is still the right man for the job and as his employer (the voter) I hired him to do the job in which he was hired to do.
I wholeheartedly believe he’ll execute the office of the U.S. Presidency with excellence and honor as he did before. He’s made mistakes like we all have and I’m sure he learned from them and he’s gonna be the workhorse like he was before, however he cannot do the job alone. And that’s where the team comes in to help America become victorious!
The team in question (the Congress and the Senate), while being a system of checks and balances on crucial policies and whatever comes their way. Like the President, they were also hired by the American people to get the job done and work towards the goal of victory.
Of course when certain laws and policies are brought forth by fellow colleagues or even got approval from the President, if that specific piece of legislation contains things immoral, fiscally irresponsible or will burden the lives of the American people, it’s the responsibility of the legislators to squash such from becoming law even from leadership of course.
Ok, so what makes things different in the case of President Trump you ask?
Since the day Trump came down the escalator announcing his candidacy as President as a Republican, many including his own party were hell bent on assuring he’d never get into office and even refusing to work with him even if they agreed on the same policy or issue! These folks were determined to see him fail because they simply despised him.
It’s like I’ve been telling people when they go to vote, especially if they’re hesitant due to dislike for the candidate personally. “You’re voting for the job to be done properly, not showing fandom or admiration for the individual” and the same applies with Trump.
I can’t begin to tell you how much criticism and lambasting I received when I decided to endorse, support and vote for Congressman John McGuire back early last year over the incumbent (and I’ve written about it in previous TBE articles).
As the role of the employer I gave Congressman McGuire the job because of his solid Conservative voting record in Richmond and because of his interaction with “We the People” and he showed me that not only was he the right man for the job but he in turn showed that leadership and teamwork were strong traits in his character due to his willingness to serve the American people and the voters of Virginia’s 5th Congressional District.
I do not regret voting for Congressman McGuire, he is doing a great job as my representative and I know as a team player he will work with the team to assure President Trump gets the job done in securing America the victory.
And that folks is what Trump needs now more than ever when he takes office. A team (the Congress and the Senate) that while still assuring a system of checks and balances, puts their personal feelings aside towards their leader as an individual but will be willing to work with him to get long overdue work done that should have been done a long time ago.
If the team does not work together then no work will get done and with no accomplish work then where else will the victory come? Though by a slim margin, we do have the majority in both legislative chambers. Let’s not blow this as time marches on, be wise with the time at hand and the choices made.
Communication, teamwork and ownership of the good and bad is very crucial so set the example right before the American people and show what unity without compromising results looks like and just maybe we can see some victory like never before.
This is now or never, folks! It takes a team to achieve victory, are you willing to be a part of contributing to the success or be the reason the team fails?
Do what you will but as for me whether it be at my job, church, or even in civic activism, I’ll strive to do my due diligence as a leader and work with my team’s to assure victory and even going by my church’s motto “Making disciples and making a difference. As that is what victory is to me. To serve God by serving others, giving Him the Honor and the Glory and to hear the precious words of Jesus when I one day meet Him face to face.
”WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT”
