Says the swamp dweller who hides behind a government monopoly yet calls himself conservative…..
Abortion is a medical procedure that has no business in the legislature, none at all.
However, as we see here, it’s a great way for Republicons to raise $$$ from the goobers and the biblethumpers.
Say what you want, abolishing abortion is a political loser. The center is for winners. 18-40 women ain’t going for abolishment. Best Wishes.
Attempts to totally ban abortion will cost Republicans control of the Virginia legislature this fall. The Democrats are unpopular, but blanket bans on abortion even in the first trimester are even more unpopular. Even in deeply conservative Kansas, voters rejected a broad ban on abortion, in a referendum.
If Republicans want to win rather than lose elections, they will only ban abortions after 15 weeks — not ban ALL abortions. Banning first-trimester abortions is very unpopular with Virginia voters.
Stop trying to ban all abortions. It is political suicide, and it is bad public policy to boot.
Exactly. You cannot govern if you cannot get elected. He is banking on enough Valley people to get on his abolishment train. Not sure how he has this figured? I know how Strasburg was in the 1960’s, not so sure about how it has changed these days. I doubt it’s about the theater, lumber company, and 5 & 10 cent store. But, I wish him well, it’s his to win or lose. I will remind him however, that we are taxed till our nose bleeds in Virginia. Where is he on that? My nose won’t stop bleeding……
John,
I respect a man who stands by his beliefs and convictions. In your long quest to abolish abortion please remember that economics and fear probably are deciding factors in many folks choices about abortion. Let’s not be so focused on the end game to forget some of the opportunities in your representation to end the economic burdens that drive Americans to make that wrong decision.
Good luck!
