In 1980 when the United States Hockey team defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union team in the Winter Olympics, you then believed in miracles. It is now 2024 and State Senator John McGuire has defeated the two term incumbent Congressman Bob Good in the biggest nominating contest in the country, now do you still believe in miracles?
But how would that be classified as a miracle one may ask?
This race was indeed one for the history books not just in the nationwide attention it received nor the fact that former President Donald Trump even got involved by endorsing McGuire but at how close this race became and this race was also valid proof that your one vote matters especially when you get out to vote and get your friends and family to follow suit! The final results are as follows!
Robert G. “Bob” Good – 31,209 49.7%
John J. McGuire III – 31,583 50.3%
While many remember the 2000 Presidential Election between George W. Bush and Al Gore and the 2008 Congressional race between Tom Perriello and Virgil Goode as nail biters! Many of us who supported McGuire will remember this as our Miracle on Ice moment, or miracle at the ballot box for that matter! The point is that this will be a race many will remember in the years to come regardless who they supported or how they feel towards the final results and that is a fact!
And I’m sure those who say their one vote wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans are starting to have a change in mind as a result of this contest!
Oh, and talking about the topic of upsets, let’s not forget back in 2014 when Dave Brat defeated former Representative and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in the primary for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District! It’s been a decade now and people still talk about this and will continue to do so!
Whether you supported McGuire or not and regardless how you have felt or still feel about him, you cannot deny the fact that he has displayed the true workhorse that he really is by the way he appealed his platform to the people throughout the 5th Congressional District whether you believe it or not and to top it off the display of his solid voting record that speaks volumes of his Conservative character.
What people also got to see first hand was not just your run of the mill politician, but a public servant who showed by actions that what a real leader does is build relationships, listens and has respect for others even if they don’t agree nor didn’t vote for him.
I have to admit this primary election was anything but smooth, in fact this election was so heated and full of tension that it got to the point where some people deleted/blocked me off of social media and heavily criticized me all because I publicly endorsed and voted for McGuire over Congressman Good (who I use to support and have endorsed in the past) and I don’t regret it one bit!
Yes I could have still voted for him(McGuire) and kept a low profile about it however with the barrage of negative and dishonest television ads, various social media posts and mailers that were being heavily circulated on what seemed to be a daily basis, I knew there were others out there who needed to know the truth about McGuire’s platform, his record and his character and in that I, in good conscience couldn’t remain silent on this.
I voted for John McGuire at the 2023 Senate District 10 Convention because of one thing! His voting record and former State Senator Amanda Chase (who endorsed McGuire for State Senate and introduced him at the convention) said it best, “Voting Records Matter”! And that folks on the positive side is one of the main reasons why I decided to put all my chips in for him to be my next Congressman!
While those producing the negative ads attempted to manipulate the people into believing the lies and keeping them from searching his very public voting record for themselves! John’s record shows that he indeed supports our 2nd Amendment rights, that he supports our veterans and that he is a defender of life at all stages.
As he proved that by being Chief Co-Patron to HB 1395 the “Rights Beginning at Conception” bill which in turn declares as it is stated in our Constitution that all are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness! Despite the bill being left to die, McGuire will continue to fight for life in Washington as he said it best at the Senate District 10 Candidate Forum we had in Appomattox back in February 2023 when I asked him if he would continue to fight for life!
Heck yeah! I’m not going to change who I am! – John McGuire (in regards to his morals, principals and the way he votes)
As I say to others, if McGuire does in Washington what he has and is still doing in Richmond, then he will be a model Congressman as far as I’m concerned! And if he can also get crucial legislation passed without compromise in the company of the Democratic majority, he can and will display that there is no room for excuses from fellow colleagues and will hold them to a higher standard.
I know there are many out there who supported Congressman Bob Good (trust me I was once one of his biggest supporters), some who may feel discouraged and have been contemplating on whether they should sit this election out or not in November, but here is my message to you!
Give McGuire a chance! Bring before him any questions or concerns you may have whether it be with him or on policy and get to know him! Building relationships with others is one of his strongest traits and he will work for you be rest assured on that! Meet with him, text or call him! His personal phone number is 804-833-5608! No excuses!
I know that there are some that were upset that McGuire changed his mind and decided to run against Congressman Good, some being the very same people who supported him in the past for Delegate and even the State Senate, however the fact is that everyone was given a choice in this race, the choice to vote for McGuire or to vote for Good.
Everyone voted for who they personally saw was the better performing candidate and/or was the right man for the job at representing us and McGuire won fair and square.
So with that being said I hope that for the sake of God, Country, Commonwealth and Community that you will give McGuire a chance to represent you in Congress! I get it! Losing stinks but another fact is that McGuire seeks to bring unity in the 5th with all constituents and teamwork is one of his greatest strengths but we have to do our part to make that work and I’m willing to do that on my end, are you? And no this is not a compromise but for the reasons listed above!
As a Navy Seal who put his life on the line to protect us from our enemies, he is not just a team player but a friend who will have your back (if you will allow him)! Whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent ect, he sees not parties but everyday Americans just trying to make it in life! Can Democratic nominee Gloria Witt say the same thing? Not at all!
The Democratic Party may be united but only among themselves for the push of their immoral agenda. Please join me in voting for John McGuire in November!
(Editor’s note: The McGuire-Good race has now been certified and McGuire has been declared the winner. Good is requesting a recount, more here.)

McGuire and Good. The difference between the two is the difference between Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dumber. And it’s impossible to tell which of the two is either.
Trump is wonderful. However, he makes some errors in personnel choices. Keep true conservatism on his radar by hash tagging him on Truth Social. H/T Robert Barnes
This is comical nonsemse. A rebuke is in order.
This election is important for another reason. This is the second congressman the 5th district has fired in 4 years. We fired Riggleman and now Good. Regardless of whether you liked or disliked these gentleman, its great that the people of this district will get rid of representatives they don’t like. I hope people in other areas will take this to heart — you don’t have to endure incumbents you don’t like. You elected them, you can fire them.
While I applaud your enthusiasm, and you certainly used a lot of words to express that but what exactly was historical and/or miraculous about that particular election? While it was indeed a close result, he had the endorsement from a popular Presidential candidate. Not trying to be a downer. I guess I don’t do hyperbole well. 🤷♂️
