Justice Antonin Scalia is very upset and very concerned about the Court’s ruling today overturning the will of people in 27 states and making gay marriage the law of the land whether we like it or not.  Read the twelve best parts of his dissent opinion here.  My personal favorite is him calling the ruling a naked claim of power, “A system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.† Ouch.  Read all of the Scalia quotes, they’re very good.  More from the four dissenting judges here.Â

Who cares what Scalia thinks? If words were meant to have meaning, Congress would have read the bill before voting on it.
The supreme court’s purpose is to proof read the words Congress didn’t read and correct grammatical errors.
They did just that in King v Burwell when they found the phrase “established by the state” confused the public who thought of “the state” in obsolete terms instead of the 21st Century absolute definition as Congress intended.
Now that this dilemma has been resolved, people will never look at “the state” in the same way ever again.
So we have an executive office that writes legislation via presidential memorandum (that American voters have no idea what is contained therein), by executive action on any major issues they see fit to implement, via executive controlled agencies that ignore Congressional oversight, and if any problem might arise, there is always the judiciary whose new role is to provide and justify any language necessary to meet executive requirements regardless of the actual text contained in the original document or the strictures of that useless Constitution. What EXACTLY do we need a Congress for again? Why pay and provide entitlements to these useless stiffs, just disband the thing and send them home at least then then might have to work for a living. This is no definition of a constitutional republic or any type of republic and those that believe the establishment wing of the Republican Party will be a change agent to any of this are delusional. The states need to act on this lawlessness or get use to European state socialism.
At some point, 2-10 years from now, when President H. Clinton nominates someone to replace a dead Scalia, I’ll remember that his words in dissent were as effective as a fart in the wind.

Ok, at some point between 1 year and and a little under 7 months from now, when Hillary takes office, until her second term is up a little under 9 years and 7 months from now, she’ll determine the replacement for Scalia. At which point, I’ll remember his dissents as being as effective as fart in the wind.

Every social experiment that the left has undertaken in the last 40 years has failed. They have ruined families, destroyed the Black community, destroyed education, and ruined our cities. Why would this social experiment be any different?

Classic case of an unnecessarily sharp insult of those who disagree with you SOME of the time. Scalia may be entertaining, but he is not a good example of winning people over, which is necessary on the Court and in real life.
While applauding Scalia’s two most recent dissents, it is important that Republicans accept the issue of gay unions (now established law), and put forth winning issues to hold the Congress, and win back the white house in 2016.

Yes, because so many on your side keep repeating that. Coming together for those left of center in the party means principled conservatives must go their way. We must all move to the left. They need not move toward our party’s principles. It’s just like the Democrats in Congress who say Republicans must reach across the aisle. It never works the other way. For those on the left, conservatives must yield to them, never the other way.

How about everybody stays where they are and believes what they believes, and recognize that we may not all agree all the time, but rather than using our energy and effort to attack, smear, and lie about other Republicans we come together and fight against Democrats?

I don’t see “sides”; there are too many divisions to count. I see instigators everywhere; what’s important is that we rise above them together as a party to win elections.

Or, simply fight for specific issues and programs that help the community, neighborhoods, and country instead of only concentrating on R v D? Do something good instead of doing nothing at all
