Most of LG Justin Fairfax’s staff in Richmond have resigned and the law firm where he works has placed him on paid leave. One government staffer remains.
Making this all the more interesting is the resignation of two employees of the Fairfax’s PAC (We Rise together), Dave Mills, and Courtney McCargo. Mills is the son of state Sen. Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) the author of the Senate’s version of the third term abortion bill which would allow abortions at full term even as the baby is coming down the birth canal, and after birth, as our Governor explained. Senator McClellan is thought to be the most likely person to be appointed Lt. Governor if Fairfax resigns.
The job of Lt. Governor is part-time. LG Fairfax is employed by the law firm Morrison & Foerster which has place him on paid leave.
