Lies for political purposes are part of a politician’s repertoire for obtaining and using power. Some political lies are good. They benefit the American citizenry and the nation. And then there are those that are evil.
On March 6th, 2023, some 26 months after the J6 events at the Capitol, Tucker Carlson showed some of the tens of thousands of hours of video taken inside and outside the Capitol. The video inside the Capitol showed people milling around peacefully and the Capitol police facilitating the activities of individuals and the crowd. This contradicted the carefully orchestrated lies that the entire crowd of Trump supporters was violent. (Notably, of the people who died that day, all were Trump supporters – 2 by heart attack, 1 by police shooting, and 1 apparently by police beating.)
Upsetting the lies of the J6 Committee could not be allowed, so the leadership of the Democrat Party, its lackeys in the news media, and even members of the GOP elite, strongly criticized Carlson and demanded censorship. So much for transparency and openness. (Carlson made the point that the Uniparty is real. He noted that both Senator Schumer, Democrat Senate Majority Leader, and Senator McConnel, Republican Senate Minority Leader, were both calling for censorship.)
I watched the Carlson show on the 7th of March 2023 and, to me, it looked like he had toned things down. There were a lot of fillers and not much follow-up from the previous day’s blockbuster video revelations. He did interview a key Capitol police officer who stated that he had called for assistance and got none. This was buttressed by a Hannity interview of the Head of the Capitol police who indicated the intelligence was clear that something quite serious was going to happen – and the Democrat leadership in charge of Capitol security did nothing to help. (Apparently, the negative optics of a strong police presence was more important than actually helping with crowd control.)
Nancy Pelosi and her Democrat friends have made no secret of their personal and political hatred of Donald Trump. She ripped up his State of the Union Speech and twice orchestrated his impeachment. However, her hatred goes well beyond Trump. It is directed at his supporters who are viewed as the enemy, not the opposition. Pelosi certainly knew that minimizing crowd control aid was bound to facilitate anarchy – and would almost certainly get American citizens and police injured and killed. She did nothing. (Frankly, it is amazing that only 4 Trump supporters and no Capitol police died that day. There was no insurrection but there was certainly a bunch of frustrated and angry people.)
There is a great deal of fear of political exposure running around in the halls of Congress and in the media that carried the lies to the public. And, the exposure is not over. Carlson, like Alexander the Great, is cutting apart the Gordian Knot of lies. I look forward to more.
