Several new laws are taking effect today in Virginia.
A law that changes all municipal, city and town council elections and school board from May until November.
Non drivers who are undocumented will be able to get an ID at the local Department of Motor Vehicles office. Undocumented children may also apply for an ID. The undocumented are allowed to drive in Virginia.
The minimum wage is increased to $11 an hour. On January 1, 2023, it increases again to $12 and then to $15 an hour in 2026.
The Humane Cosmetics Act prevents any cosmetic testing on animals in Virginia.

“A new Virginia law directs the Virginia Department of Health to contract a nonprofit data services organization to create a database of prescription drug pricing. Health carriers, pharmacy benefits managers and drug manufacturers will be required to report drug price information to the organization.”

Every law, no matter how well intentioned, is a restraint on individual freedom.
