In a previous article, I wrote about the comeback of Virginia’s Conservative champion Tom Garrett who served in the Virginia State Senate from 2012-2017 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2017-2019 and his newly declared candidacy for the Republican nomination for the newly redistricted 56th House District. Folks I’m proud to say that Tom Garrett won the nomination and now the next stop, Richmond!
The 56th House District Convention was held at Cumberland High School and also running for the nomination were Kevin Bailey (attorney from Appomattox County) and Jennie Wood (businesswoman from Goochland County). The convention went into two rounds of voting
Overall results of the first round were Jennie Wood 24%, Tom Garrett 34%, and Kevin Bailey 39%. After being eliminated from the convention, Jennie made a two-minute speech thanking the voters, supporters and volunteers in which she expressed support for Tom Garrett going into the final round of voting.
In the final round of voting, Tom Garrett accomplished the start of his major comeback with a victory over Kevin Bailey with the final results of 58% – 42%. Now it’s onward to November when we send Tom Garrett back to the General Assembly to continue his deliverance of well done results just as he did in the Virginia Senate Chamber and U.S. House Chamber.
As a resident of House District 56 and Senate District 10, I can say that I will be honored to cast my vote and be blessed to be represented by our next Delegate Tom Garrett and Senator John McGuire.
