With provisional ballots still not counted, these were the numbers as of Saturday morning:
Fairfax Board of Elections Issues Ruling:
New Herring Number: 5,137
Old Herring Number: 3,067
Difference: 2,070
New Obenshain Number: 2,039
Old Obenshain Number: 1,101
Difference: 938
Obenshain Number from yesterday: 1,272 + 938 = 2,210
2,210 – 2070 = 140 Obenshain ahead
The official ruling in Fairfax is the votes were never lost. They had been counted but not properly transferred to the Statement of Results.
Herring picks up more votes via provisional ballots in other counties:
Henrico Co.: 98 Herring, 75 Obenshain
Hampton City: 19 Herring, 9 Obenshain
Arlington: 59 Herring, 21 Obenshain
By my calculations the difference is now only 69 votes with Obenshain still leading. The counting of provisional ballots in Fairfax began at 2:00pm. Democrats should be able to ‘find’ the necessary votes in Fairfax to put Herring on top, if not, they’ll keep turning over rocks until they do.
