They speak incessantly with forked tongues and are not to be trusted.
For example, in rebuking Donald Trump’s recent statement about illegal alien Mexican rapists and drug dealers, Chuck Todd, narrator of NBC’s Sunday show “Meet The Press,” claimed that he and his staff “could not find any studies showing any connection between immigrants and crime.” In fact, to counter Trump’s assertion, Todd referred to a Pew Research Center report stating that immigrants committed less crime than the general American population.
That might be swell and dandy, and I have no cause to doubt that claim, given the very high crime rates of some segments of the native-born American population. However, The Donald did not speak about all immigrants, but rather Mexican immigrants. Thus, to lump together all immigrants when Trump was complaining about a particular demographic is totally disingenuous, dishonest, and well…liberal. But here is why Todd did it.
Government data (FBI crime statistics) clearly indicates that crimes rates vary SIGNIFICANTLY among demographic groups, with the Hispanic crime rate being about twice that of the non-Hispanic white crime rate. Trump therefore appears correct in his assertion. Furthermore, the crime rate among East and South Asians (to include immigrants) is significantly lower than that of the non-Hispanic white crime rate, and is in fact less than 1/3 that of the Hispanic crime rate. Let’s face it, if there are Korean or Indian equivalents of MS-13 or the border cartels, they are one of the best kept secrets in the country. So, by deliberately lumping Asian immigrants in with Hispanic immigrants, Todd and his ilk are able to conceal the high crime rate of Mexican immigrants. Such liberal Jedi Mind Tricks may work on weak willed, mind-numb Democratic voters, and some “conservative” writers and commenters, but they will not work on me and others like me.
Then of course there are the plethora of estimates from the liberal media concerning the cost of “The Wall of Trump” and the prospects of deporting 11 million illegal immigrants. Todd made the claim that Trump’s plan to beef up the border patrol would raise the annual cost from $18 to 28 billion dollars. Other liberals have estimated the cost of Trump’s Wall would be anywhere between five to ten billion dollars. That is fine, and no one is denying that it will be not be expensive to solve this problem after decades of broken promises and total disregard of our immigration laws by both political parties. It is never easy to clean up a mess that has been festering for decades, with now legions of “anchor babies” costing tax payers tens of billions of dollars a year in federal benefits.
But how come none of these liberal bean counters have ever showed an interest in tabulating the cost imposed by illegal immigrants and legal immigrants on welfare? After all, if a liberal “journalist” is willing to roll up his or her sleeves to estimate the cost of DOING something about a problem, he or she should be equally curious and eager to calculate the cost of NOT DOING something. Right?
The truth is that for nearly 30 years this immigration mess has cost us tax payers hundreds of billions of dollars per year in local, state, and federal services and benefits along with higher medical insurance premiums. But the only people who have tried to estimate the magnitude of this drain are the good folks at Center of Immigration Studies and Federation for American Immigration Reform. And the liberal rebuttal to their thorough research and analysis? More often than not it is the usual cries of “racism” and “nativism.” So typical. So dishonest. So duplicitous. So fork-tongued.
