It is no secret that in recent years the problem is that of Conservatives and Republicans having embittered conflict towards one another over such items like morals, electability and even holding elected officials to stand for our Judeo Christian values. While it is viewed to the opposing Liberal Democratic party as a Jerry Springer episode in real time, they are indeed having a good laugh and for that we should be embarrassed! But what went wrong?
For one, many Moderate and Independent voters argue that we are sending candidates out into battle that are in their eyes “too Conservative” and that meeting in the middle increases the chances of winning an election, is that 100% true?
Absolutely not! Many people in Virginia think that may be the case since we elected Governor Glenn Youngkin flipping the governorship from blue to red however as I’ve stated in a previous article I am very convinced that Youngkin didn’t win but that his Democratic opponent former Governor Terry McAuliffe lost when he openly admitted that parents shouldn’t be telling what schools should be teaching their children.
Fast forward two years later to the 2023 Virginia elections, Youngkin took charge in the attempt to flip the Senate and keep the House and failed to do so only by a couple of seats between the two chambers and for that he has to own that loss and it shows that meeting in the middle for the “Moderate solution” doesn’t work out after all. Democrat’s don’t cave that easily and it also shows the desperation for one to willingly sell out their values and morals for the sake of winning a seat.
That’s one issue alone and yes I do think on an occasion there are good solid conservative candidates that can appeal to the Moderate and Independent base voters and in this case State Senator John McGuire (now candidate for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District) is one that can do this, with his solid voting record and evidence of the rare display of bipartisanship in the Virginia General Assembly without compromise of such values.
Despite the 5th Congressional District and the Virginia 10th Senate District both being safe solid red districts, such appeal can be easily done in such specific districts compared to a statewide election.
I’m in no way saying it can’t be done but what I am saying is Conservatives and Republicans should focus more on voting for the morals, values and principles we hold dear than selling out for the sake of winning. It really sets a poor example in one’s character and others that have great concern for our nation and Commonwealth’s welfare look at that with bad taste.
Another display of infighting in the GOP is not only the scenario of Conservative against Conservative but sadly Christian against Christian! As Conservatives and Christians alike this is very disheartening as we for the case of Christ and Country should be working together against the forces of evil and their father the Devil who is out for the kill all the way around.
There are sadly some that profess the title of Conservative and Christian but will act in a holier than thou art attitude and have rules for thy and not I. Sounds like the Pharisees if you ask me, remember them from the Holy Scriptures?
They believed what was in the Word and believed in God but went in the wrong direction when they set burdensome rules for others and not themselves (in other words not practicing what they preached), lived by traditions and when the Word became flesh in that of our Lord Jesus Christ, they stared truth right in His precious eyes and yet were blind to Him and in sad reality rejected the Word.
What I’m about to state applies to all Christian’s, myself included and something we should all think long and hard about.
1. Are we truly doing what the Spirit lays on our heart or are we leaning on our own understanding and what we personally feel is best?
2. Are we standing up for the truth in a manner of unapologetic patriotism or are we on our soapbox, ranting in a rage while blowing away our testimony in the process?
3. How does the Lord truly feel when His children are against one another instead of working together?
Ok, I get how some may feel on the opposite side of the aisle and I’ll use the heated Congressional race here in Virginia’s 5th District as an example. I and others support State Senator John McGuire for various reasons and there are some who are supporting incumbent Representative Bob Good for various reasons.
And that’s ok for we do know that one of them will become the Republican Nominee and regardless of the outcome, we will do our civic duty in casting our vote and the Lord will allow whom He sees fit to stay in the fight for the General Election.
So again while we may strongly disagree on one another’s choice of candidate, is it really worth it to burn bridges and destroy relationships with one another?
Are we really accomplishing anything by bad mouthing our fellow brothers and sisters or trolling insults on the Facebook pages of the candidate we oppose?
Pick your battles wisely folks! We as Christians should set the example better than we are now. Even in politics, others are watching us and we as activists, elected officials and party leaders that profess faith in Christ should pause and realize that our words and actions could very well mean bringing a soul to Christ or running them off. And yes this is a matter of spiritual and eternal life and death!
Speak the truth boldly even if it means gaining enemies and rejection! After all John the Baptist and Jesus (God in the flesh) both did so. But only do so at the guidance of the Spirit and in rightful standing. This is the time for Christians to work together against the darkness not within it against one another!
So who are you going to be in our Republic, the unapologetic patriotic disciple for the sake of Christ and Country or the Pharisee hell bent on traditions and concerned only for their own benefits?

Bradley,
Did you happen to see the story on WSET about the “latest” illegal alien in Campbell County charged with sec crimes?
Do these guys come to our area for sex or the lure of easy undetected pay in our local construction industry.
McGuire has a hilarious add running where he has a tactical weapon and says;
Politicians don’t shoot straight.
Do you suppose that the sex criminal was working locally in construction as one of McGuire’s “Independent Contractors” or if employed by one he surely would be in Va. Department of Taxation & VEC records?
Many Republicans claim to be conservative but today that term has an ever changing description. Just who is the top Republican in Virginia that combats; waste, fraud & abuse?
Go ahead and tell me, you can “shoot straight”, can’t you?
Bob is no Good. No one who emerges from a driveby primary in a church parking lot is up to the challenge. Goodbye Bob. Why would you favor shutting down the government when such a large portion of your constituency depends upon it to feed their family? Especially when it will be paid out anyway in retro … no savings at all, but lives are disrupted. Foolish!
When it comes to Good and McGuire, both have documented history of being horrible legislators, and there is little to recommend about either.
Know this is a + forever R district, but the people deserve better.
Would you please tell us, out of the 535 in the U.S. House and Senate, what is your idea of even one single good legislator? My understanding is that they haven’t even completed the budget process since 1996. Best Wishes as I await your answer.
The AIPAC, along with other pro Israel PAC’s are spending $100’s of millions of dollars to go after U.S. politicians who do not give them what they want. Congressman Bob Good correctly REFUSED to vote to give Ukraine about $61 BILLION more in their loss to Russia, and Israel over $26 BILLION, plus BILLIONS more to others in deficit dollars. This in addition to the billions of dollars in aid Israel already receives annually in deficit dollars from the U.S.. The U.S. House and Senate is now basically being blackmailed by these pro-Israeli PAC’s. You either vote in congress to give Israel the loot, or, these PAC’s will declare you not a friend of Israel and go after you at election time as they are now going after Bob Good. The media in the U.S. flipped campus demonstrations against Israel killing 10’s of thousands of civilians instead of Hamas, into antisemitism. Israel kills 2 civilians for every one Hamas member. October 7 belongs to Netanyahu because he was cheap to keep a military presence on their short 37 mile border with Gaza.
As far as Christianity goes, it’s very clear in Revelation 14:12. Romans 6:2, It’s also clear in the Old Testament, Exodus 19: 5-6 that the promise made to Israel then was conditional.
Now Democrat Speaker Mike Johnson is a liar. Same as were the Republicans who lied for seven years that they would end Obamacare. And Trump, who said he would build a wall and send the bill to Mexico. All liars.
“ what I am saying is Conservatives and Republicans should focus more on voting for the morals, values and principles we hold dear than selling out for the sake of winning”
Time out. Tiiiiiiime out, I’m voting for DJT (so spare me the TDS/RINO blather) but it’s damn sure not for any of the above. Please tell me you didn’t write that screed AND you’re voting based on your chosen candidate’s moral/values and principles? C’mon, at least be honest about it.
Please explain why you are opposed to Bob Good? Is he down in the polls? What actions did he take to inspire McGuire to run against him? It is not apparent to an outsider. Thanks for your help
Hello Dianne, Bradley here I wrote an article a couple weeks ago “Why I am Supporting John McGuire for Congress” which explains my reasons of endorsing and supporting him. I encourage you to check it out!
Dianne, you will need to ask McGuire about his motivation.
The only poll I know of: Cardinal News (5/7): “Good trails McGuire by 14% in 5th District GOP primary, new polling data shows” Poll conducted by “national GOP pollster Battleground Connect, which was conducted on behalf of and provided by McGuire’s campaign.”
https://cardinalnews.org/2024/05/07/good-trails-mcguire-by-14-in-5th-district-gop-primary-new-polling-data-shows/
This is Trump country. Good endorsed DeSantis just like he did Ted Cruz. For us it doesn’t matter that Good endorsed Trump after DeSantis dropped out. Good is an opportunist.
Good is rarely seen outside of republican committee meetings. The 5th district is huge but he neglects us.
Good’s severe meddling in local races and public temper tantrums are disgraceful. His name calling in the press about others in congress is disrespectful and is not how I expect my congressman to behavior towards others.
I think Good very quickly got too full of himself. John McGuire has done fine in Richmond and he acts like a gentleman. I will vote for McGuire tomorrow.
Bob Good is well known for his machinations to manipulate local and state Republican Committees. If you don’t become a piece in his playbook, then he will work to replace your piece with another that will. When John McGuire was redistricted from the 7th District to the 5th District, he was in the middle of running for Congress. So because he was given money to run for Congress, he ran an exploratory in district 5 to see if it was a viable option and decided otherwise.
When Bob Good heard about this, had a childish tantrum, and has since been undermining McGuire’s campaigns or anyone McGuire endorses. John McGuire has made the attempt to be cordial but Bob Good refused each time. In the previous campaign for State Senate district 10, Bob Good interjected himself, challenging McGuire’s military credentials and called him a coward and a puppy dog. During the State Senate District 10 Convention, Bob Good was boo’ed out of the convention when this attack on McGuire’s military service was brought up.
With all this, McGuire agreed to support Bob Good, but then people like myself, who saw how Bob Good treated people in his district that don’t agree to his rules, began to ask John McGuire to run because they felt that they deserved better. He knew he would be hammered for doing so, but decided to run anyways (Personally, I think it was shameful for people to coerce such a promise from him, the people should have as many options for candidates as possible).
Then when Bob Good betrayed Donald Trump on the very day that Trump was indicted by the Democrats who loathed him, John McGuire decided that he had every right to run against him without having any sense of regret. The only reason Bob Good is supporting Trump, is because he has no choice, as Trump is the only candidate left and the Republican Party of Virginia requires loyalty to the chosen Republican candidate. Bob Good has never got a legislative bill to the floor and has the 4th worst attendance in the House. He has done nothing to truly earn another chance.
Best explanation I have heard. Thank you for taking the time to lay it out.
Thank you both Shelby and Tammy for the well laid out support explanation. It’s not often that is given here. The typical response starts/ends with a bunch of sophomoric name calling so your reply is a refreshing change and hopefully a precursor of future discourse.
Dianne Wyss,
I don’t know about Good so much but I do know specifically about our past 3 Gubernatorial Administrations (Attorney Generals including), policies implemented and legislation.
John McGuire has absolutely NO credibility when it comes to illegal immigration, various forms of fraud, drug trafficking and human trafficking (for labor).
In 2022 the “Navy Seal” , John McGuire voted in support of SB121. John McGuire now has his history of a legislator (representive of the people) in favor of all the compounding detrimental effects of illegal immigration.
Take notice not one single Republican here can show you the actual benefits of SB121 or even jobs created. When you look around your community, on construction sites you see the growth of Biden’s illegal immigration, well know this to be fact;
Joe Biden’s illegal aliens have been provided sanctuary employment via SB121.
Oh but he “engaged the enemy” but after he chose to retire he used his legislative ability to give aid & comfort to enemies invading our Southern Border.
John McGuire has Bipartisanship tendencies with the Biden immigration policies.
