The Virginia Court of Appeals has taken an unusual step of not hearing the Democrats’ appeal on a redistricting amendment and sending it directly to the Virginia Supreme Court. The amendment would allow the Democrats to redraw the current Virginia Congressional map which favors Democrats 5 to 4, to a map leaving the Republicans with only one congressional seat. Current Republican representatives Rob Wittman, Ben Cline, John McGuire, and Jen Kiggans are likely to lose their seats. The new map also creates a new district in Loudoun county.
The amendment was recently halted by a Tazewell County judge and Democrats immediately appealed. This move by the Appeals Court is considered a victory for Democrats.

It was not behind a paywall for me but thanks for the link.
Redistricting maps were to be released by the General Assembly by the end of January but that has not happened. Reasons for the delay here, https://virginiapoliticalnewsletter.substack.com/p/update-on-the-delay-in-getting-maps .
