Former Governor Bob McDonnell and Dave Webster

Sad news, we’ve lost a true Virginia gentleman

written by Paul A. Prados July 21, 2021

Bull Elephant contributor, Dave Webster, passed away Monday night July 19, 2021 after short, but intense, complications from cancer.

Dave wrote for the Bull Elephant during most of the past decade on political and legal issues of importance to Republicans throughout Virginia.  Republican activists in Fairfax County and specifically the Town of Herndon came to recognize Dave as a staple at our meetings and events.  In the Town of Herndon, Dave Webster was a household name as he was regularly involved in local politics and ran for town council.  Dave was the kind of person who you could oppose politically, but then work with him together the following week.

Dave’s intellect was routinely applied in the practice of law.  He served the people of northern Virginia in their personal and business affairs, as well as in court.  I relied on him for professional insight periodically and appreciated his skill and demeanor.

One-on-one and behind closed doors Dave was a committed friend and persistent ally.  He will be sorely missed.

It is understood that a formal obituary will be prepared by surviving family.

We will post any additional information as we receive it.

Comments on Dave’s passing from fellow TBE authors:

“Dave is a wonderful gentleman. He will be dearly missed.”

“We had some political disagreements, but I always liked Dave”

“Politics doesn’t matter…good men do. He was a wonderful person. Bless his family.”

“Incredible loss”

“Terrible news, prayers to his family.  I enjoyed my interactions with him”

“He always had my back”

“It’s shocking and heartbreaking news”

“RIP my dear friend”

Paul A. Prados

Having fallen prey to the allure of DC politics in college, Paul escaped only to make the similar judgment error of going to law school. Trained at the side of a sitting state Senator, Paul is now the owner of a law firm in Reston, Virginia. In previous years Paul built a base of support on Twitter @ppradoslaw and founded and wrote for a blog on Virginia politics and legal procedure northernvirginialawyer.blogspot.com. As a pro-life libertarian, Paul finds himself at home within the broader conservative movement, and believes in a big tent Republican Party. In May 2016 Paul was elected as Chairman of the 11th Congressional District Republican Committee. Paul resides in western Fairfax County with his wife and children.
