According to a source close to the issue, that endorsement will be made public within the coming weeks.
We know the SEIU focuses on issues important to their union members: higher pay and expanded benefits. Their questionnaire includes questions about a $15 an hour minimum wage and Medicaid expansion. We don’t know how Supervisor Volpe answered those questions but she presumably provided answers that were favorable to union members.
We urge Supervisor Volpe to release the answers she provided to the SEIU questionnaire. It is rare for a Republican to apply for an endorsement from SEIU and rarer still to secure their endorsement. So what did she tell them? Voters have a right to know.
The Bull Elephant will publish Volpe’s questionnaire as soon as she provides it to us. We will do the same for any other candidate in Loudoun. Republican candidates should be honest and transparent. We should be able to expect that from all of our candidates for public office.

Volpe courting the union vote is really odd. There are always rumors about Volpe’s behind the scene antics and not being trustworthy but when a union endorses a Republican you’re assured that the Republican is not a fiscal conservative.
I will wait to see if the endorsement comes through. If it does Volpe should release her survey responses. I would like to note that the SEIU through its proxy the New Virginia Majorlty has inserted itself into the “non partisan” Herndon Town elections. I successfully forced the Va Board of Elections to fine SEIU’s proxy for reporting violations.
The endorsement has been decided.
