All election results for the House of Delegates have now been certified. If all the results hold after expected recounts Republicans will maintain the majority in the House, 51 to 49.
Del. Mark L. Cole,(R-Spotsylvania) won re-election in the 88th district by over 4,000 votes so there is no dispute in that district. Results in the 28th district, currently held by Speaker Howell, are much closer. Republican Bob Thomas leads by 82 votes. However there are problems in the district with some voters having been given the wrong ballot on election day. Democrats have filed a lawsuit that could result in a special election in the 28th. Or it could end up in the House of Delegates for them to decide.
