Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation held a debate today where Nick Freitas smoked Corey Stewart. Evidence of that is in their straw poll that Freitas won 140 to 76.
Corey continues to brag that he was Trump before Trump, “He copied me”! Is Stewart not aware that Trump lost in Virginia by 5%? At one point Stewart said Freitas was not a fighter. After a brief chuckle, Freitas said, “that is adorable”. I guess Stewart has also forgotten that Freitas is a Green Beret who served two tours in Afganistan and has fought hard for us in the General Assembly.
Watch the debate here, but skip the beginning where the moderator makes announcements that go on for far too long. Go to the 10:09 mark to for the beginning of the debate. Later watch how rude the Stewart supporters are.

The sputtering, screeching autism on display by the Stewart fans here tells me how worried they are. They know their candidate is weak… like the fat bully in middle school trying to intimidate the kid he knows can drop him if it comes to it.
Plain and simple;
Freitas fought in the Iraq.
He fought to defend the rule of law, United Nations laws.
Now the Veteran returns to Virginia. Holds the people’s seat in *our* house.
You know we have many problems here because of illegal immigration. Many of these people are breaking numerous employment and employer laws.
Freitas sits in *our* house and refuses to defend our rule of law.
This is not United Nations law but Virginia law and it is
UN American not to stand up to defend our rule of law.
That’s *right*,
I said it. He took a knee this General Assembly Session.
His speach on *our* House floor is nothing more than a cheap way to get a good Campaign Add.
The truth hurts.
I’ll take that challenge but first answer this;
1) How many Americans died in Iraq defending the rule of law?
2) Now how many Americans have died at the hand of illegal immigrants from 9/11 until today on United States soil?
Jeanine,
I don’t know what video you are watching. Folks are talking who were there that it was obvious to them that Freitas had been fed the questions ahead of time. I don’t know I wasn’t there. I do know that Rick Buchanan had already endorsed Freitas. Apparently, a Donna Brazille was pulled for Freitas.
As a former law enforcement officer I would never support a candidate like Never Trumper Freitas who wants to weaken our marijuana laws.I would never vote for Freitas who did not have the courage to ask for Va House Speaker Kirk Cox resignation after he supported the expansion of Medicaid. I would never vote for Freitas who has been endorsed by libertarians and has the support of the Green Party.
I would never support Never Trumper Freitas who has made on more than one occasion on social media disparaging comments about President Trump.
I think Freitas receiving the endorsement of Bob McDonnell tells me everything I need to know about how he is going to conduct himself as a elected official and who he will be taking his orders from.
“I am going to run, I am going to govern as the most vicious conservative you have ever seen” Corey Stewart.
This will play well for the Kaine campaign if Stewart wins the GOP nomination. This will be the only campaign ad that the Dems will need to run.
Downstater, thank you for mentioning Medicaid expansion. All you have to know about the PWC straw poll last night that a certain hack is prattling about is that House Speaker Cox – who led his delegation in voting FOR the disastrous Medicaid expansion – was a featured speaker at the PWC dinner!!! He actually got up and ultimately blamed the voters for HIM voting for Medicaid expansion…he said WE had to elect more Republicans …..to stop HIM from voting for Medicaid??? It was insane. Most importantly, #NeverTrumpNick is so weak he has done nothing to call out, confront or seek to remove a Speaker who has so disgracefully betrayed everything he and other Republicans promised. No wonder the establishment, Trump-hating sellouts in that room voted Freitas in the straw poll. I thank God Corey Stewart was the first to condemn the Medicaid betrayal and continues to do so.
I don’t dismiss any Republican leaning voting segment out of hand in Virginia, in an attempt to get back in the game, but the libertarian and/or Tea Party “vote” is a path to nowhere in this state in 2018. The Tea Party membership levels and fervor of 2010-2012 have left the house leaving behind it a handful of anti -Trump party activists who have left us with the Rubios, Flakes, Huelscamps (re-election loss), DeMints (resigned seat) and Lees to name a few.
The Congressional Tea Party caucus in Congress is effectively dead and it’s associated Freedom Caucus under Mark Meadows (R-NC) is decidedly a pro President Trump supporting conservative group. The Virginia Tea Party Federation is a shrinking mirage of chiefs with no indians. Their flavor of this state election cycle is one junior state delegate running for the US Senate with few credentials but a solid never Trump reputation.
How this zero name recognition never Trumper is going to manage to be relevant by discounting the significantly critical Virginia Trump voting base (40-45 percentage points and likely growing unless you chose to ignore the results of the recent state gubernatorial race as a fluke) is one only the deluded of the Virginia liberty political faction can internalize with their straw polls of the one-person- one-vote individual chiefs while the vast tribe of indians they ignore have all moved on to better pastures where things may occasionally actually get delivered.
But WAIT – this time it will be different – this time we have THE candidate! Not like we haven’t heard that endlessly repeated again and again. Touching base with reality Del. Freitas is going nowhere but back to the state house and the Virginia Tea Party Federation no longer has the power of the voting base to change that result. What we can only hope it does not do is contribute to further internal opposition and party backstabbing to the selected primary winner going into the general election. Recent Virginia political history unfortunately substantiates that is likely wishful thinking. Virginia Republican national office candidates today run against two parties – the Democratic and their own as the losses just continue to pile higher.
Here is the website that captures all of Freitas nasty comments about Trump
The fact that Freitas supporters now constantly trot out his military service in response to any and all criticism of him shows how weak even they realize their candidate is. I respect mikitRy service as much as anyone, but it’s not an entitlement to public office nor an innocukation from criticism. (We have had quite enough of that from the treacherous, amnesty pimping John McCain.) Moreover, military service is hardly a distinctive in this primary, as multiple other candidates are not only military veterans, but served far longer and at a higher level as well. I might vote for #NeverTrumpNick for Senior Class President – the office for which he appears to be running – but he is WAY out of his league in this race.
We cannot let Kaine be reelected
this will only give disguised credibility to McAuliffe in 2020.
We cannot have a President McAuliffe and not because of his ties to Clinton but because of his genuine lack of concern for the working class Virginians.
It will only get worse.
The RPV must put down the rubber stamp saying;
***for deposit only*** and extended a hand of solidarity to the Right to Work Working Class Families, God knows that the Va. AFLCIO has not.
I hope one of them is successful in getting the Tea Party nomination — Indulging Tea Party delusions of grandeur extinguishes my ardor for a nominee choice.
Make no mistake Kaine will portray the nominee as racist.
Kaine will attack *our* Constitutional Right to bear arms and be successful.
It is time for Virginia Republicans to evolve to prevent
this from happening and the only way is through a desire to lead combatting the illegal employment and illegal commerce that I discuss and the fact that the Va. AFLCIO does not protect the Va. worker but has more of an international flavor, they have absolutely no concern for the man that picks himself up by the sweat of his own hard work.
Yes, and not these pantomime partisan secessionistas.
Thank you for posting this. This debate was advertised as between five of the six candidates. How did it devolve into being between two candidates?
The others were invited but did not show up for different reasons that was told at the beginning of the debate.
Minerva Diaz seens to have won this debate.
Looks like a younger candidate for boomers and the older candidate for the Trump era. Reminds me of something like Marco Rubio debating Paul Nehlen, as if that would ever happen.
Great the way Corey at least took the Republican Leader of the House of Delegates to task for suddenly giving way to ADVOCATING for Medicaid expansion. What? After years of trucking to Richmond w/Americans for Prosperity, and now all of a sudden we get an email from Cox that we are supposed to switch course. Unbelievable.
Mr. Substance vs Mr. Bluster.
No not at all. Corey is far more experienced than Never Trumper Freitas and has demonstarted this in his ability to come with a percentage point of beating a even stronger, establishment candidate Gillespie in the Governor’s Primary.
Never Trumper Freitas also on his Facebook page offered to write recommendations and give bonuses to those who help him collect signature.
Never Trumper Freitas has been endorsed by former Va Gov Bob McDonnell while Corey Stewart has been endorsed by Laura Ingraham and Jerry Falwell Jr and others.
Never Trumper Freitas did not have the courage to stand up to Va House Speaker Kirk Cox when he expanded Medicaid in Va. He should have demanded his resignation.
Former Governor Bob McDonnell is an extremely poor endorsement.
This remark is in no way due to his corruption trial but his Executive Leadership and job performance or lack of.
Punch this in your search bar;
“Rogue Subcontractors Undermine Va’s Legal Workforce” by Kenric Ward
This was a blatant display of Executive Administration Deregulation for an unauthorized guest worker program, Santurary.
He can have his darn watch.
Jeanine,
Let me remind you Corey is more than just bluster. It takes a understanding of the complexities of governing, battle ready candidate to go up against someone like Gillespie,a heavily funded, establishment candidate who outraised him 4 to 1.
Bluster doesn’t get you these type of election results in last years Gocernor’s Primary with 3 candidates in the race.
PWC – Stewart- 10,281
Gillespie- 5,484 ( who also btw won the PWC Lincoln Reagan Dinner straw poll)
Va- Gillespie- 160,003
Stewart- 155,466
Stewart has received the endorsement of Laura Ingraham, Jerry Falwell Jr, and others.
I wonder about Never Trumper Freitas who received the endorsemnt of disgraced former Va Governor Bob Mc Donnell who is a embarrassment to Va.
Folks have caputured Never Trumper Freitas disaparaging comments about Trump before they got erased.
Jeanine,
Here is a question you can ask Never Trumper Freitas,
Ask him to explain his vote on a bill that would give Metro $154 million a year in permanent new funding?
Jeanine,
This site has captured all the negative comments Freitas has said about President Trump!

The TEA Party Debate.
Well this Conservative Independent is lacking in support of the TEA Party as a whole.
The TEA Party was very outspoken under Obama an McAuliffe about illegal immigration and at one point about immigrant childeren being placed in Va.
To bad the TEA Party still remains unconcerned about the amount of job loss in the Commonwealth due to illegal immigration.
Green Beret or not Virginia has come under a constant attack of illegal commerce due to illegal immigration and just who the heck is out to defend the legal employers from this?
I have yet to wittness anything in our General Assembly.
Fact!
NOT fact. We had several discussions about immigration today, including an entire breakout presentation by FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform). We encourage you to learn more about the details of what’s going on before making erroneous statements.
Fact!
Talk is cheap and just that talk.
Make no mistake I will swing votes in my community.
Total BS by you.
Five Virginia Republicans voted NO on hb1106 , this bill would have provided for investigation by Va Attorney General on illegal employment then sending the cases to local Courts for a proper adjudication process.
If a illegal alien kills a deer in Virginia without a Va. Hunting license he is an unlicensed hunter up for prosecution of hunting without a license.
Now if the same illegal alien contracts work without a contractor’s license is he or the General Contractor who conspired with him in the delivery of Contracting Services up for prosecution?
No!
FACT! 5 Va Republicans in our General Assembly voted for Santurary Employment and the Va TEA Party sat on their lazy hands.
What are you waiting on the Federal Government to lead you?
T aking
E mployment
A way
The little tea party needs to put their and crumpets down,
gett off your a$$
get on your feet
out of the shade
and in the heat.
How many illegal aliens can you employ in Virginia under a single 1099?
A crew of bricklayers.
A roofing crew.
A framing crew…. on and on.
The little va tea party is lacking in arithmetic.
FAIR is a lobby group.
I will stand with the rule of law and the fact that Virginia Uni Party Republican can’t seem to enforce it.
I was there, sitting off the the right among a group of Frietus supporters who made hearing some of the exchanges difficult to hear. I’m not sure I would characterize their enthusiasm, whooping and booing at times, rude but it was disruptive. Where were you sitting Jeanine?
I was sitting right in the center, running the debate timer. Both “sides” were boisterous at times, but only the Stewart supporter(s) were pacing back and forth at the back of the room, waving signs in an effort to distract/disrupt Freitas while he was answering his debate questions. Additionally, when the timer got to zero, Stewart supporter(s) were loudly shouting “TIME!!!!”, as if they were the moderators. These two actions were particularly obnoxious. Luckily that didn’t last long. Overall though, the debate was largely respectful. Before the debate began there was an event opening speech from Jack Morgan, discussing the need to be respectful to each other and to work towards unity to support the eventual nominee. If the republican campaigns want to be victorious in the fall, they must find a good balance. I’m optimistic, but pragmatic.
The WaPo actually had a more accurate description of the debate. Sitting among Nick’s sign waving, woo-hooping supporters, I was totally unaware of anything in the back of the room, just say’n.

Larsele,
For accurate account of wha went on at the debate I would go to the Republican Security Council Facebook https://m.facebook.com/RSC.GOP/photos/a.109576829141497.13709.101173139981866/1624919340940564/?type=3&source=54
Libertarian and Never Trumper Freitas has been endorsed by a Libertarian Group that supports sanctuary cities. Corey supports state legislation against sanctuary cities,Freitas does not.
