As we bid farewell to the overwhelming success of Governor Glenn Youngkin, many now await with bated breath to see what the future Administration of Abigail Spanberger has in store for citizens of the Commonwealth. Although Ms. Spanberger ran as a Trojan Horse “moderate” it is hard to imagine that once she is sworn in as our Governor on January 17, 2026, she will be anything but a progressive embracing the policies of the far-left side of the Democratic party.
As I campaigned for Ms. Sears this fall, I was dumbfounded when told by numerous solid Republicans that they were not voting for her because “Virgina was not ready for a Black female Governor,” nor would they vote for candidate John Reid because “his sexual orientation which ran counter to their religious beliefs.”
Of course many of these same voters are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and the right to life. It is no secret that both of these concepts run counter to the grain of the incoming Administration, and I suspect those that did not vote will wish they had taken a stand and exercised their moral responsibility rather than sitting on the sidelines.
As a former Strategic Planner for the Joint Staff our mantra was “Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.” Well as a civilian I continue to follow that advice and suspect after January 17th, 2026, the “worst” will be revealed and those that sat on the sidelines will wish they had taken a stand. Hindsight is always 20/20 – let the “fun” begin …

I’m praying you are wrong but unfortunately I believe you are spot on. Hang on Virginia, it’s going to be a wild ride……
Spanberger is Mamdani at a state level. And those who ran with her are fully democratic socialist with a side of Islam.
Nailed it.
Yep …unfortunately concur all Sir ….
I AM STUNNED! Our party members actually said, out loud.“Virgina was not ready for a Black female Governor,”? Are you kidding me? I knew that some would never vote for Reid because of his homosexual nature but this is beyond the pale. We DESERVE to lose is we have that kind of racist stupidity in the party. OK dumbshcifffs, you stayed home and cost us the state. Don’t come crying when your basic freedoms are gone. As for Lorna Gladstone, there are no words for that kind of ignorant attitude.
As a longtime observer of Republican, I am not in the least bit surprised.
Remember: Nixon and Reagan set about recruiting white supremacist Democrats to become white supremacist Republicans in the wake of (1) Truman’s desegregation of the armed forces; (2) the “Dixiecrat” rebellion; and (3) LBJ’s passing the Civil Right Act of 1964 and Voting Rights Act of 1965. White supremacist Democrats could not tolerate these actions, leading Nixon to commence his Southern Strategy and reaching its highwater mark with Reagan’s first campaign speech in 1980 at the Neshoba County, Mississippi, fairgrounds.
You have been either asleep or braindead if you think the Republican party welcomes homosexuals. Tolerate a few so long as they stay in the closet, but slap them down if they dare rise above a tolerable level.
Republicans can tolerate a few Blacks and Gays, provided they stay in their place. Sears and Reid got out of their place.
I really have no concern or care for your positions but, that said. Your memory is extremely faulty. You have obviously forgotten that Reagan welcomed the “Log Cabin Republicans” into the fold. So that shoots down one of your assertions. nice try on the Dixiecrat thing though. I well remember Strom Thurmond’s diatribes and his formation of the “dixiecrats’.Nixon’s Southern Strategy was nowhere near what you claimed it to be. I was living in Macon GA when he ran and was well aware of what he was trying to accomplish and it was most definitely NOT trying to recruit “white supremacists” into the Republican Party. Your post merely repeats the lies and propaganda that the democrats use against republicans and have for decades.
As a Democrat, she’s not a Trojan Horse. She’s a Trojan Ass.
P.S. I ALWAYS vote straight Republican.
It makes no difference if people voted for Sears or not. Even with their votes we Republicans did not have a chance in hell. As you well know Youngkin only won because of a fluke and a single issue, and because Mcauliffe was stupid enough to assert that the state should raise people’s children. Northern Virginia controls the votes and Northern Virginia hates Republicans which is why I no longer support our candidates. Throwing away good money. Only support those in other states that have a good chance of winning. It will be a true miracle if Virginia becomes red again. Gilmore brought in the dot coms and they all vote for the big D.
