The Huffington Post, after having been embarrassed by failing to predict the Trump victory in November 2016, has announced they will be doing a “bus listening tour” of what they call “middle America” to ask this important question: Just what does it mean to be an American?
The Huffington Post says they are doing this listening tour because: “Trust in the media has bottomed out. We hope to rebuild some of that – and learn from it – by listening to the public and elevating their stories through our massive distribution network”.
The tour will go through 23 different cities in 20+ of Barack Obama’s 57 United States. However a closer look shows just how narrow minded this tour will be. For example, they will be going to such “conservative strongholds” like St. Louis Missouri, Detroit Michigan, Des Moines Iowa,, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Birmingham Alabama (about the only area in Alabama which Hillary Clinton won), Milwaukee Wisconsin, Akron Ohio (again one of the few Ohio locales which Hillary Clinton won in November), New Orleans, and the list goes on and on.
My guess is that the “learned people” at the Huffington Post have deluded themselves into thinking they are going to meet and talk to real conservative voters. In actuality they are going to meet liberal voters from what they derisively call “fly over country”, probably in hope of finding a woman who has had multiple abortions who lives off the public dime, or a meth head who needs his/her social security payment.
If the Huff Post was serious about wanting to get to know “middle America” what they’d do is go to a farmer in Kansas or in California, and learn just how the EPA has made it more and more difficult to farm. Or they can go to Paris/Upperville Virginia, and talk to Martha Boneta of Liberty Farms, who has been threatened with millions of dollars in fines by Fauquier County because a few years ago she had a birthday party for her nephews and nieces on their farm, which wasn’t sanctioned by the local government.
Talk to a WalMart manager in Minnesota, who is told that if he/she does not cater to certain religious sensitivities of Sharia practicing Muslims from Somalia (aka selling pork products at a Wal Mart), the Wal Mart will be sued, and the manager will likely lose their job. Listen to Allen here from Southern Maryland, a regular caller on the WMAL Larry O’Connor show. http://www.wmal.com/2017/07/11/listen-anguished-caller-shames-media-over-russia-obsession-were-out-here-struggling/
Or go into any Baptist church and sit through a sermon, and talk to the parishioners regardless of ethnicity. You’ll see these are good God loving people, who are sick and tired of having the progressive agenda shoved down their throat. 98% of Middle Americans could really care less if someone is gay or if they are transgender or whatever they do. Americans are a live and let live people. But we get sick and tired of having San Fran Nan (Nancy Pelosi) talk to us about how not funding military transgender reassignment surgery harms national security. http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/13/pelosi-restricting-dod-funds-from-being-used-for-gender-transition-treatments-hurts-national-security/
We get sick and tired of being called haters each time we remind someone that marriage is a Biblical ceremony. We get sick and tired of being called “anti woman” each time some lunatic like Ashley Judd rants, when it is the average American in “fly over country” which is trying to save the lives of unborn baby girls from being aborted.
So to the Huff Post, want to learn about America, the real America, don’t visit the few liberal enclaves in “flyover country”. Spend a few days shoveling manure in a pig farm in Nebraska or NC or Minnesota. And see how burdensome the USDA regulations are. Do a story on a great American like Martha Boneta, who has been fighting the environmental lunatics in Fauquier County so she can have her nephews and nieces over for a kids party. Go to the Queen Street Diner in Strasburg, owned by my dear friends Sharon and Jackie Ferguson, have some pancakes with sausage gravy and just listen to my neighbors wonder how they will make ends meet. Talk to Josh Wilberger, a Woodstock Va cop who loves protecting the town but is getting sick of seeing the rise In meth usage. Come to New Market and meet Karen Kwiatkowski, a former Army Lt. Colonel who is running for the local Board of Supervisors, and wants to make hemp farming legal so her neighbors who own farms can have another cash crop.
This is America. Many of us are white, some of us are not. We really don’t care what color or ethnicity or sexual orientation or whatever someone else is. If someone is nice to us, we’ll be nice to them. We believe in God, and in being patriotic. Most of us are conservatives, but some of us aren’t. We get along in spite of our political differences and will reach out whenever someone has a problem. We love our communities and are fiercely proud of who we are and our collective history – and are sick of being insulted by self proclaimed elites in the media or entertainment industry.
As Alexis De Qucqueville said in the 1830’s about America: “Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power”.
So to the Huff Post, get out of your liberal bubble, and come meet us one on one. Who knows, you may learn something good?
