The Ludicrouz Report–New York City Edition

This special edition of the nearly acclaimed Ludicrouz Report is intended to poke fun at or ridicule the insanity associated with New York City events.  The Ludicri focus is on the upcoming mayoral election in “The Big Apple”.  (It appears that “The Big Apple” is about to embrace policies that would add the word “rotten” to the City’s description.)  

If things go according to expectations, NYC will elect as Mayor Zohran Mamdani, an avowed Socialist Democrat (communist?) with a Muslim background.  His anti-capitalist ideas are bizarre to say the least but they appeal to a City with a large welfare population and a huge illegal alien influx.  Below are some NYC Ludicri in no special order:

Ludicri #1:  Property tax rates are targeted to go up in the wealthier white (and likely Jewish) neighborhoods.  This is obviously racist because different property tax rates will be applied based on skin color rather than assessed property values.  This idea has stunned upper class New Yorkers who have historically propped up the City.  The result is that realtors in NYC and Florida are  already being besieged with sell and buy requests from many wealthy New Yorkers.  (This idea reminds me of “blockbusting” which destroyed property values and trapped home owners in their devalued homes.)     

Ludicri #2:  Government owned grocery stores will replace private ones – so there goes Giant, Safeway, Food Lion, et cetera.  Stalin did this in the USSR.  Even though he had the advantage of a command economy his government owned grocery stores still failed.  Imagine what would happen if the NYC government didn’t pay its outside the City grocery suppliers.  Government grocery stores would empty quickly and progressive starvation would occur.  (By the way, cities experiencing budget crunches have been known not to pay their bills and businesses have been driven into bankruptcy as a result.)

Ludicri #3:  Defund the police is at the top of the list.  Nobody needs police because violence is simply in a person’s mind and social workers can help that person feel less violated when real physical violence occurs.   (Speaking for the dead becomes a priority apparently.) 

Prisons aren’t needed and guns will be completely banned.  (Florida has been talking about something called Alligator Alcatraz and this would appear to be an appropriately similar national response to isolate NYC while they conduct their “15 minute city” socialist experiment in chaos.)

Ludicri #4: No set of socialist ideas would be complete without a bunch of freebies thrown in.  Free bus transportation is a given.  Free childcare is also a given.  (No socialist system would be complete without the government “taking care” of the children.)  Then there is free education, a favorite of the Biden administration which created “the eliminate student loans” ideas.  

The piece de resistance of freebies is the takeover of various types of housing for use by the City to house recently arriving folks from Biden’s open borders.  (Pity the poor “rent controlled” apartment owner whose property has been vacant and is now confiscated to meet the needs of the population explosion”.  Notably, in the UK, pensioners are being thrown out of their homes to make way for continuing migration invasion.  Anybody want to bet that this isn’t on Mamdani’s menu of socialist options.)

Ludicri #5:  Since these ideas are socialism writ large in NCY, money is no object.  If the City government doesn’t have enough money they simply appeal to the State and Federal government to bail them out.  If the bail out request, or more appropriately called demand, is resisted, they screams of bias of all types will be advanced by whatever leftist media exists and will echo throughout the halls of government offices.  (The likes of Bernie Sanders and AOC will be more than happy to be water carriers for more money printing and more American debt.)

Ludicri #6:  To be fair, one of the ideas is to raise taxes so that the NYC socialist government can say they have done everything possible to control the cost of freebies and “other services”.  Here is Mamdani’s tax proposal as reported in the news:  

His agenda will be paid for by tax increases, including adding a flat 2% tax income tax increase on the 1% of New Yorkers earning more than $1 million per year. He also proposed hiking the corporate tax rate from 9% to 11.5% to match New Jersey’s rate—which his campaign says will bring in an additional $5 billion annually for the city.  (Note the property tax rate increase is in addition to the income tax increases.)

Ludicri #7:  There is a realistic concern that the large NYC Muslim population will feel empowered by a Muslim mayor and that antisemitic violence against NYC’s very large Jewish community will increase.  Mamdani has been embroiled in a controversy over the phrase “globalize the intifada”.  (Low level street warfare is already occurring around Columbia University and in Jewish sections of the City.  Take the police out of the equation and you have civil warfare in the streets.  “Escape from New York” isn’t science fiction anymore.  Hey, maybe even “The Gangs of New York” will step in to control the chaos.)
