Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) has been elected Speaker of the House on a vote of 220 to 209, with every Republican voting for him. (One Republican was absent.)
Also known as Lovettsville Lady, I am a Republican activist in the wilds of western Loudoun County.

The nightmare continues.
Thank you Matt Gaetz for adhering to the signed agreement, and getting rid of the low life scum, Kevin McCarthy.
Jim Jordan back in the judiciary committee, where he wants to be, and where he shines.
Mike Johnson, in the seat, thank you Lord.
The Ship of State has been speedily traveling down the river towards the fatal waterfall. Now, with Johnson, hopefully it will slow up some.
Basically, isn’t Mike Johnson just a proxy speaker for Trump? He can easily prove me wrong by refusing any CR, and, absolutely refusing another Omnibus. I predict another Omnibus bill the size of no other before. When have the Republicans ever said no to Joe Biden? Sure, we will see some drama with with usual temporary hold outs. But, in the end Joe w$ns. And wins big. It’s all about the cash.
Republicans will never hold the House or Senate in 24’ due to things like the not one, but 2 Speaker fiascos. Trump will not run in 24’, and even if he does he will be DQ’ed. I do not believe Biden will either. Just look at Biden slipping away.
The Speakers office is no more than Omnibus HQ. No matter who has their name on the door. The priority is to make it rain deficit dollars on the entire planet via Omnibus deficit spending.
No Trump in 24’. And, if Joe does show up next November, a vote for Joe is just a vote for the “Cali Kamali”.
This round certainly goes to Gaetz. Let Jim Jordan take the big hits, then slide MAGA Mike Johnson on in there. Same guy but without those pesky sexual abuse peccadilloes. Grab ya popcorn, this should be good.
For all the hand-wringing over the “chaos,” the political free market worked. We got a good guy.
