The On-going ICE Protests Amount to Nothing More Than Harassment

The Media Calls Them “ICE Protesters” But in Reality, they are Citizens Engaged in Civil Disobedience.

In many blue cities, mostly in sanctuary states, there are mobs of left-wing activists, mostly young, white and affluent people, who gather and follow ICE agents while they arrest and deport illegal aliens. One such group is called “ICE Watch”, they help organize the mob, and they spread the word when ICE comes into a city, even down to the specific neighborhood. One of their activities includes passing out whistles so that if people see ICE agents, they can blow their whistle to warn the illegal aliens to go and hide. I think warning criminals that police are near is obstruction of justice. At least it should be.

Well, the media calls these people “protesters.” I can understand why the media, which represents the view of the left, prefers the term “protesters”. The narrative of protesters getting shot in the streets is better than a headline reading police shoot a person resisting arrest. Or the headline anarchist or insurrectionist gets shot. So, the mainstream media declare the anti ICE radicals to be “protesters”, even though the term anarchist, or person engaged in civil disobedience would be far more accurate.

Another reason it is wrong to call them protesters is the fact that the police, ICE in this case, doesn’t write the law. What is the point of anyone trying to lobby them? It is like trying to lobby or pressure a judge. Trying to put pressure on the police is completely out of bounds.

The only reason I can see is that the mob is trying to frustrate and if possible, cause a halt to ICE’s work. In addition, they may also want to try to force them to make a big mistake – a mistake which the mob can video tape. But they are playing with fire. The blue haired Karens, and the others, are in way over their head. Many in the mob of protesters will get arrested and many will get hurt. And my guess is most Americans won’t grow more sympathetic towards them.

The public won’t sympathize with the mob in the streets because ICE agents are doing an important job. They are pursuing illegal aliens who have committed numerous crimes while here. And while they are doing their duty the mob is all around them with the purpose of obstructing, interfering, harassing and in many cases assaulting the ICE agents. They throw things at the agents, they curse them, give them obscene gestures, and when they can they publish their identity, which puts the agents and maybe even their families at risk. Those aren’t the activities of legitimate protesters. Those aren’t the actions of patriotic Americans and those aren’t the actions of people who want to keep their city safe. These are the actions of people who have been brainwashed.

Democratic politicians are no better. They want the support of the left-wing mob, so they rile them up. They tell them what they want to hear. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz claimed earlier this year that ICE is a “modern day Gestapo”. Although in fairness someone should point out to Mr. Walz that the Gestapo didn’t wear body cameras, and the Nazi government (1933-1945) didn’t release the videos to the public.

Another example of irresponsible behavior comes from Minnesota Lt. Governor, and candidate for the U.S. Senate next year Peggy Flanigan. In an effort to secure the Democratic nomination, which these days requires support from the radical left, she is encouraging demonstrators to “put your body on the line”. Well, last week, Renee Good may have taken her advice. She put herself in the way and used her car to block federal law enforcement. It is easy for Flanigan to tell someone else to tangle with ICE and risk their own body.

What did the ICE agents do to deserve such bad treatment? Well, to the mob of left-wing anarchists (maybe paid by George Soros) the ICE agents are evil because they are the people enforcing our immigration laws. Laws which were democratically and constitutionally passed. I thought the Democrats were concerned about the health of our democracy. Well, I guess there are some laws that they want enforced and others, such as immigration laws, that they don’t.

The other term they like is “legal observers.” This term was used in the 1960’s. The Black Panthers would form teams who would follow the police. They were called “legal observers.” It is a political term of art. The people involved are not lawyers or have any legal training, they are simply anti ICE activists, but being known as legal observers may sound more legitimate.

Where do we go from here? Well, I trust and hope that Trump continues the important work of cleaning up for years of our open borders madness. We have immigration laws which for far too long have gone unenforced. We have dangerous criminal aliens, thanks to Biden and other Presidents, in the country who must be removed.

The Federal government has the authority to go into the states and enforce Federal law. The blue state governors know it, but they will still sue to stop the Trump administration.

In fact, just tonight I heard that Illinois and Minnesota are suing to stop the federal government from sending ICE into their states. They are bizarrely and falsely claiming that under the 10th Amendment, (rights reserved to the states) that they have the right to keep Federal law enforcement out of their state. This is false, the Federal government has the power to enforce all Federal laws, and no state can stop them. This issue was settled in the 1860’s, and yet again in the 1960’s.

In addition, the blue state governors know that juicing up the mob is bad for the country and that such rhetoric can get people killed. In fact, it already has.
