I recently sent an email to Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn concerning her possible misappropriation of Virginia taxpayer money for failure to comply with the Virginia Appropriations Act concerning her removal of the Lee statue and various other busts of Confederate officials which she has charged Virginia taxpayers for.
Here are my questions and her responses.
“The names of any entity or person hired to carry out the statue removal and the amounts they were paid. This request includes the name of the creative consultant hired in the statue removal process and the name of any storage company where the Lee statue and busts are presently being kept. Copies of the contracts entered into with these entities or persons should be sufficient to comply with this request.”
Filler-Corn’s response: “The requested records do not exist.”
“Copies of any emails between you and the entities or persons referred to in paragraph 1 above.”
Filler-Corn’s response: “The requested records do not exist.”
“I would like to find out if the contracts were awarded after a competitive bidding process.
If there was no competitive bidding process I would like to find out if there was any finding of an emergency required for no bid contracts pursuant to the Virginia Public Procurement Act, Virginia Code § 2.2-4303(F) which states that a “written determination of the basis for the emergency and for the selection of the particular contractor shall be included in the contract file.” If such a written determination was made I would like a copy.
Filler-Corn’s response: The requested records do not exist.
“If these various contracts referred to above were not subject to competitive bidding I would like to find out if notices were posted on the Department of General Services’ central electronic procurement website also as required by Virginia Code § 2.2-4303(F).”
Filler-Corn’s Response: The requested records do not exist.
“If you don’t believe that you or House Clerk Suzette Denslow are subject to the Virginia Procurement Act please state why.”
Filler-Corn’s Response: Nothing.
Copies of any emails between you and House Clerk Suzette Denslow regarding this matter.
Filler-Corn’s Response: Nothing.
