Friends, we have a long road to hoe for us to get back to where we are competitive statewide. And for us the road back to relevance started with the GOP Advance/State Central meeting this past weekend. In an executive session of the SCC meeting – we had what diplomats called “a frank exchange of ideas” (aka we laid into each other) – and while I cannot disclose what occurred during that exchange, I will say it was healthy that many of us got our feelings out. Now onward and upward.
The next SCC meeting where we will elect our new RPV Chair will likely be January 10. Many of you have stated to me or stated publicly that you feel disenfranchised about not having a vote or a say in who is the next RPV Chair. Here is what I intend to do:
- Starting today through January 9 (or the day before the SCC meeting) I am going to take an informal poll. I want to ask each of you who should be our next RPV Chair. Currently there are 3 people running:
Lynne Bogle – Patrick County GOP Committee Chair.I spent 45 minutes on the phone with her yesterday, getting to know Ms. Bogle. She seems to be hard working and sincere.Ms. Bogle has been the Patrick County GOP Chair since 2001.Ms. Bogle used to be in the Air Force and has lived much of her life in NOVA – so she understands the difference between Republicans in NOVA and Republicans in rural life.Ms. Bogle is also troubled by the excess influence that the consultant class has on RPV.
Mike Clancy – Mr. Clancy ran a great race for Congress in CD 10 last year, nearly winning in a likely D+10 District (Clancy lost by approximately 4% with Donald Trump atop the ticket).
Cameron Hamilton – husband of incoming Member of the House of Delegates Karen Hamilton (replacing Nick Freitas- Culpeper).Mr. Hamilton is a recognized member of the Liberty movement.
Please take some time to get to know them, and when you’re ready, give me your vote on who I should vote for.In a close race, I am going to use my best judgment. If there is a clear and convincing winner (aka someone gets 50% or higher) – I will vote as the majority requests. That way, you know your voice has been heard by me and I will (as always) represent you in Richmond at RPV to the best of my abilities.
2. This Thursday at the 6th Congressional District Meeting (Waynesboro Elks Lodge 1700 Harvard Road Waynesboro) 7 PM we will have a “candidate forum” where all 3 above announced candidates will appear. We’ll have a short intro speech from each of the candidates, and then will allow questions from the Committee Members and (time allowing) will take questions from the general audience. Each of the 3 above mentioned candidates has been invited and has agreed to attend. Please feel free to attend, we’d love to see you.
I want each of you to know and remember that you have a voice in this matter. We have to get it right this time, or else we are screwed. Your input will be listened to and is appreciated.
Congratulations to Mildred Scott
Mildred Scott, who is 94 years young, received the RPV Chairman’s Award this past weekend. Mildred is regionally famous in the Roanoke Valley for everything from her annual Shrimpfest to being a tireless worker for our GOP conservative candidates, is deserving of this prestigious award and no one is happier than I for her receiving it. And once again thank you Mark Peake for publicly recognizing Mildred in a way that she deserves.
I’d also like to point out that in November at an RPV Executive Committee Meeting, the following CD6 volunteers were nominated for the following awards:
RPV Unit Chair of the Year – Derek Adler of Frederick County
RPV Volunteer of the Year – Dana Brunn and Rhonda Torres of Frederick County
RPV Unit of the Year – Bath County
Terrence Boulder Award (Lifetime Achievement) – Jan Lowry Rockbridge/Lexington/Buena Vista GOP
Kay Cole James Award (outreach) – Kevin Shifflett of Harrisonburg
While none of these outstanding American Patriots was formally recognized by RPV – I want to take a few minutes to honor each of them here.
I remain
your servant
JM

I’d give Mike Clancy the nod. He ran a very good campaign as a candidate and almost pulled it off. In meeting him I observed 1) He asks questions and actually listens to your answers (a rarity among leaders now); 2) Is actually conservative; 3) Is not trying to make a buck off the GOP; and 4) Has an excellent temperament.
Virginians traded a prosperous well run state for one that will raise taxes, excuse crime and drive business away. Virginia is now going to be run into the ground by people like Mamdani.
While you are moving “forward,” be certain that you DO NOT use any of these words that have been banned by the Trump Administration.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had some way to prevent measles — which can be a fatal disease? If only there were some way to prevent measles. Maybe some eyeglass salesman could make a suggestion.
Meanwhile . . . South Carolina measles outbreak ‘accelerating,’ driving hundreds into quarantine
Some students who remain unvaccinated are now in a second 21-day quarantine since the beginning of the school year.
The measles outbreak in South Carolina is “accelerating” with no end in sight following Thanksgiving and other large gatherings, state health officials said Wednesday.
As of Wednesday, 111 measles cases had been reported in what’s known as upstate South Carolina — an area in the northwest of the state that includes Greenville and Spartanburg.
“We are faced with ongoing transmission that we anticipate will go on for many more weeks,” Dr. Linda Bell, state epidemiologist for the South Carolina Department of Public Health, said during a news briefing Wednesday.
I said this 8 years ago and I stand by it: Sarah Palin was the gateway idiot who led to Donald Trump. She lowered the bar flush to the ground and he oozed right under it.
In addition to being vile, liars, racists, proto-Nazis, failures, and generally all-round nasty people, now we learn that Republicans are petty people with the maturity of a below-average 6th grader.
The plaque created to honor the law enforcement officers who protected the Capitol and the representatives inside it on Jan. 6 is defective, the Trump administration contends, and the lawsuit filed to force it to be hung should be thrown out.
U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and Metropolitan Police officer Daniel Hodges cannot prove they have been harmed due to the memorial not being hung, and even if they could, its installation would not resolve any of their injuries, the Department of Justice (DOJ) argued in a 12-page motion to dismiss filed Tuesday.
In March 2022, Congress enacted legislation to create a plaque to honor the officers “who valiantly protected the United States Capitol, Members of Congress, and staff on January 6, 2021,” as the filing recounts. The marker was to be provided to the Architect of the Capitol and then “place[d]” at a “permanent location on the western front of the United States Capitol.”
However, now more than three years on, it has been created — but not yet hung. Dunn and Hodges filed their lawsuit in June, seeking to compel its installation and arguing they have suffered harms “compounded by the government’s refusal to recognize their service,” including death threats.
Indiana Republicans are set to pass a new Congressional district map that wipes out EVERY DEMOCRATIC-HELD SEAT in their Congressional delegation. Where is your outrage over this?
Oh, I see — this would benefit Republicons so it’s fine with you while you rage, rave, and foam at the mouth over Virginia Democrats’ proposal to redraw our Congressional district map.
Perhaps you could stop your foaming at the mouth outrage long enough to look up the word “hypocrite.”
To those who are interested, Freddy B is not me.
Yes, but, this IS you:
March 2018
Virginia’s Republican Party has booted a member of its leadership whose controversial remarks underscored divisions in the era of President Trump.
Fredy Burgos, whose attacks against Muslims and immigrants reflected a new brand of in-your-face conservatism in Virginia’s historically button-down GOP, was voted off the State Central Committee over the weekend, a state party spokesman said Monday.
With Republicans in Virginia still reeling over a wave of Democratic victories in the fall, Burgos faced a backlash last month from party leaders when he posted a Facebook comment saying that only Christians are fit to run for office.
Absolutely that’s me. We can’t afford weak leadership that doesn’t protect our American heritage. That was a coup against Republicans of the 11th CD who elected me.
Thanks for the thorough update.
News you MAGAts will never hear on Fox.
Tonight a Democrat was elected mayor of Miami for the first time in 30 years – she won 59-41.
In Georgia’s 121st House district, a Democrat won in a district that Trump carried +12.
Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, Trump made the following demented claims.
“ “You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don’t need that many. You always need steel. You don’t need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we’re doing things right.”
“ If you don’t like increased electricity prices, just use less electricity. “
“ Foreign countries are pouring billions into our Treasury because of my tariffs. “ (NOT TRUE – A tariff is a tax paid by the importer – we are the importer. We are paying the tariffs in increased prices.)
Then, there’s this. In a bullshit-filled interview released on Tuesday, President Donald Trump was asked about his eyebrow-raising pardon of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández.
Hernández was convicted of running a massive, state-protected cocaine trafficking operation that funneled 400 tons of drugs into the United States while he simultaneously took bribes from cartels and weaponized Honduran security forces to protect the trade.
As the Justice Department said at the time, this was “one of the largest and most violent drug-trafficking conspiracies in the world”—and that wasn’t hyperbole.
That 400 tons amounted to 4.5 billion individual doses of cocaine. Hernández once boasted, “We are going to stuff the drugs up the gringos’ noses, and they’re never even going to know it.”
Trump has spent years invoking drug trafficking as justification for tariffs against Canada, China, and Mexico, not to mention his undeclared and illegal naval assaults on Venezuelan fishing boats.
Asked by Politico’s Dasha Burns how this squared with his supposed “zero tolerance on drug trafficking,” Trump’s answer was befuddling.
“Well I don’t know him, and I know very little about him other than people said it was like an Obama-Biden type setup,” he blathered. WTF? “I don’t know him . . . he was set up by Obama and Biden.”
Finally, in response to a reporter’s question, Trump said he didn’t know anything about someone named “Ghislane Maxwell” but he would not rule out pardoning her.
All this is fine, but, the REAL question is this: Which of these candidates has a photo of themselves kissing Trump’s ass? There’s your new Chair.
Now is the time for all good men (and women) to come to the aid of their party.
I am pulling for Cameron Hamilton. He will shake things up and think outside of the box- which is what we desperately need.
You neglected to pay homage to Gov Youngkin , Lt Gov Seats, and AG Miyares.
Or were they PNG?
