The Woke Episcopal Church Tells Trump that They Won’t Help Resettle White South Africans

The Left Denies the Possibility That White South Africans Can Be Refugees

In January, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a law that allows the government to seize privately owned land without compensation – in “certain circumstances”, when it is deemed, “Just, equitable and in the public interest”, which of course gives them a blank check to take all the land they want. No doubt that every tyranny in history has claimed that their actions were, “Just, equitable, and in the public interest.” Some examples, Hitler, Lenin and Stalin were passionately committed to the “public interest.” They murdered millions of people because according to them it was, “Just, equitable, and in the public interest.”

White South Africans make up only about 7 percent of the population but own more than half of the farms. This has always been a sore point with the black majority and the socialist, racist government in Pretoria. I say racist because, if the white farmers produce food and sell it at a market price what else should the state want from them. But I suppose that they could buy land from a lot of the white farmers, but under this law they don’t need to, they can just seize the property. It’s cheaper that way.

The tragic thing is that we have seen this nightmare before. In Zimbabwe in the 2000’s the government also took over farms from the white minority and in the name of social justice gave it to people who knew little to nothing about farming. Which led to less food being produced and more hunger and starvation. The government took the property in the name of “Reparative justice”, but I doubt that eased the hunger pains significantly. Sadly, it looks like South Africa is about to go down the same failed path.

The ANC, African National Congress, has run South Africa for the last 30 years. It’s quite amazing to think of one Party, in a Democracy, ruling a country for so long. The ANC took over after the end of Apartheid. Their roots are with the communists, and their struggle was against a white minority government. There is an old ANC apartheid era chant, still in use, “Kill the Boers.” The word Boer is the Dutch word for farmer, and the Afrikaners are mostly of Dutch descent. There is still lingering resentment towards the white minority, some scapegoating and the slogan is still heard today at ANC rallies. Imagine if members of any ruling Party anywhere in the world chanted, “Death to the Jews.” There would be a worldwide outcry, but with the whites in South Africa the world looks the other way. Whites and white farmers in particular are singled out for punishment, and discrimination. Many have squatters on their land. Farmers have been attacked on their own land, some have been killed, and the ones still alive know that their government has no interest in protecting them.

The Afrikaners have been in South Africa for centuries. They are good at working their land, it is what sustains them, enables them to live and raise their families. Trump claims that genocide is taking place, I’m not sure I’d go that far, but taking their farms is for many a death sentence. So now with the new law in effect the Trump administration is prioritizing the Afrikaners for asylum protection, and this week 59 Afrikaners arrived in the country. Seems like a good thing to do.

Well, the left is upset that the Afrikaners are moving to the head of the line, ahead of people of color, to get into the country. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau was there to greet the Afrikaners who arrived in Washington Monday, and the left seized on his comment that they had received an expedited process because they could be “assimilated easily” into the United States. The left claims that “assimilated easily”, refers to the fact that they are white, and hence shows Trump’s racial bias. Well, I don’t think that the administration thinks that race makes it easier to assimilate them into the country, rather I think they see this asylum effort as a matter of justice. As Trump said on the subject, “We want to save lives.”

I believe that it’s the left that has a secret bias against white South Africans. What could the bias be? Perhaps the lack of a MS13 presence in the Boer community has the left concerned. Perhaps the fact that the Afrikaners speak English, or that they work, or that they believe in property rights, or that they believe in freedom of speech has the left concerned. Are the Afrikaners likely to go on welfare, or vote for Democrats? Maybe not.

Well, the Episcopal Church, a leftwing organization masquerading as a Church, has been involved in refugee settlement for years but now they are so offended by the Afrikaners being offered asylum, that they have told the Trump administration that they won’t help. Episcopal Bishop Sean Rowe issued a statement announcing the end of helping the Federal government on refugee resettlement:

The reality is we can’t be ourselves in the Episcopal Church and take the step of resettling Afrikaners. Our church has a long commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and historic ties with the Anglican Church of South Africa.” He went on, “It’s not in line with anything we’re about.”

Well, first the Episcopal Church is upset that the Trump administration has suspended the process of bringing in more Afghani refugees. The administration cites issues over vetting. So far, we have brought in over 100,000 refugees from Afghanistan, but the Episcopal Church is upset that 59 Afrikaners came in this week. The leaders of the Episcopal Church claim to be followers of Jesus Christ but surely Christ would not turn away 59 Afrikaners who have been threatened and harassed and had a land expropriation bill written and passed to target them. So why is the Episcopal Church hostile to the idea of giving asylum to white South Africans? Well, it has to do with the ideology of the woke, and one of the main tenets of the progressive catechism is the belief that whites can’t be oppressed by nonwhites. So, if the Episcopal Church were to be involved in the resettlement of whites, under the belief that they were being oppressed it may send the message that they believe something that they don’t believe is possible. Fundamentally, they don’t believe that white people can be refugees. Just think if you were to ask a random Episcopal Bishop how many genders there are, he (or she!) couldn’t tell you, but if you were to ask if there could be such a thing as a white refugee, they’d give you an unequivocal no.

In addition, the left doesn’t want to tarnish the ANC. They won the first election in South Africa in 1994, they overthrew the white minority government, they brought in the rainbow government which was to bring about racial harmony. They failed, but the progressives are determined to memory hole all the problems in South Africa. They don’t want to acknowledge that South Africa is a failed state. And certainly, they can’t admit that racism against whites exists there, or anywhere for that matter.

So far only 59 Afrikaners have been admitted under Trump’s expedited process. And since the population is relatively small, I doubt that all that many white South Africans will come in, but I definitely think Trump was right in offering them asylum.

And it’s a safe bet that none of them are members of Tren de Aragua.
