Trump's Big Beautiful Ballroom

Trump Derangement Syndrome Even Extends to Home Renovations

written by David Shephard October 25, 2025

Trump to Build a Ballroom for the Ages with Private Donations and The Left is Throwing a Fit.

I know this may not sound so nice, or patriotic but the White House is a dual use Federal Building. It is like a campus with a house in the center. It is both a house and an office building, and really more of an office building than a house. There is only one family who lives there at a time, but hundreds of other people work there and visit every day. Since 1792, and especially since 1814, it has been renovated numerous times with additions and subtractions made by presidents throughout the last couple hundred years. These additions were designed and built for function and need more than preservation or beauty.

Just a few examples of changes. President Jefferson built the East and West Colonnades. He also put in an icehouse and wine cellar. FDR built a pool, which was later covered over. President Truman had a balcony built, and Gerald Ford put in a pool.

Now we have a President, who was once a builder, and he wants to make an addition, and since he was elected President, he has the power to do it. Now to make the addition that he wants, the current East Wing, which is now mostly office space will have to come down. Sure, lots of history was made in the East Wing, but Trump believes that the Ballroom will be a better use of space. That is his call. And no doubt history will be made in the new ballroom after it is completed.

But Trump’s rational reasons for the ballroom can’t be understood by people with Trump derangement syndrome. The media is all upset about the changes taking place, but do they really care about keeping the East Wing the way it is? No, I submit that they just hate the idea of Trump making changes.

Even before he became President, Donald Trump had the idea of building a ballroom. In 2010 Trump even approached David Axelrod, an advisor to then President Obama, about the idea of building a ballroom in the White House. Obama passed on it, and Trump was not able to get it done in his first term, but now he is getting it done -the bulldozers have arrived.

President Trump believes that a ballroom is needed in part because currently the White House has insufficient space for special events. The maximum number of guests that the White House can hold for a formal dinner is about 200 people. In the summertime events can be held outside, which can increase the number of attendees, but it is not particularly comfortable being seated outside. So, building a ballroom on White House grounds probably makes sense. And the money to do it, estimated to cost 300 million dollars will be paid by Trump and private donations.

What is the objection? Well, it is called Trump derangement syndrome. Ex CNN anti Trumper, Jim Acosta claimed that Trumps was “ripping the sh** out of the White House.” This is false, the demolition is taking place at the East Wing, not the residence. The East Wing was added in 1942.

The left looks at the demolition taking place at the White House and they see it as a metaphor for Trump’s Presidency. He is destroying the country, like he is destroying the East Wing of the White House.

But it will get built and future Presidents will be happy that Trump did it. No doubt the ballroom will be one of his legacies. Just as President Truman’s name is linked to the White House balcony, Trump’s name will be forever attached to the White House ballroom.

The main reason the left is so upset about the ballroom is that it will be a physical reminder of the Trump Presidency. A reminder that will last perhaps as long as our Republic itself. Democrats and the left can’t stomach the thought.
