From Virginia GOP:
ICYMI: Virginia Democrats just put California bureaucrats in the driver seat of the everyday decisions of Virginians. Once again, for the third straight year, Democrats have voted to let California dictate what kind of car Virginians can drive, mandating they buy electric vehicles and banning the sale of gas-powered cars in the Commonwealth. As Fox News reported, “Democrats in the Virginia state Senate voted to kill a Republican bill that would have repealed a 2021 law that tethers the state’s air standards to those set in California and, therefore, adopts a 2035 electric vehicle (EV) mandate. ”Democrats ignored the “dozens of Virginia residents who oppose EV mandates attended the hearing this week” including the “the vast majority of attendees” inside the hearing room who rose when the Democrat chairman asked those in attendance to stand if they support repealing the California mandate. Democrats ignored people like Chris Holmes, who pleaded with them to “not allow California representatives to enforce laws in Virginia.” And Democrats ignored the 57% of Virginians who said they want the General Assembly to repeal the law that empowers bureaucrats thousands of miles away to control their lives. Their priorities are clear: Virginia Democrats prioritize the opinions of California bureaucrats over the wants and needs of their own constituents. |

It’s all good. New England is increasingly moving to south side Virginia, so they will already be used to higher taxes and fees for transportation.
