We’re hearing that voting is heavy across the state and we are headed to a record-breaking election. What’s happening where you are? Please add your comments at the bottom of this post. I will add to this post throughout the afternoon/evening as updates are available.
A heavy turnout today benefits Trump because the majority of those voting today are Republicans just as the majority who voted early were Democrats. At my precinct there were lines to vote at mid-morning and it’s a very Republican district.
From the Loudoun County Board of Elections:
>>>As of 1pm, precinct election day turnout is at 16.97% (47,891) of Loudoun’s 282,263 registered voters. When the early in-person and by mail are added in the turnout is 71.55% (201,956). We have already surpassed the number voting in 2016 which was 183,870 and fast approaching the historic turnout percentage. Highest percentage turnout since 2000 was 77.92% in 2008.<<<
If you haven’t voted yet you have until 7:00 pm to get to the polls. If you are in line by 7:00 you will be allowed to vote, but don’t cut it too close, they will close the doors at exactly 7:00.
UPDATED: Numbers in Fairfax County as of 2:00pm
>>>2 p.m. Turnout Update
Today: 16.1%
Early Voting: 51% (404,000 votes)
Estimated Total: 67.1% of 787,000 registered voters in Fairfax County Vote or return mailed ballots by 7 p.m.
Viginia Beach: Combined with early voting (in-person and mail) – about 196,000 people have voted as of noon. Turnout over 60%
4:30: I just returned from my polling place in Lovettsville, a very Republican precinct. 3110 out of 3,900 voters had already cast ballots. That means just under 80% had voted either in person or may mail-in, or early in-person. And the polls are open for another 2 1/2 hours! Astonishing numbers!
