I am not a fan of Russia. I spent most of my career in the Department of Defense trying to ensure that our military forces were superior to those of the Stalinist Russians. However, I have to ask an uncomfortable question – why is America focused on the Russians and Ukraine?
For the entirety of the Trump Administration, all we heard out of the Democrats was Russia, Russia, Russia. Virtually every news story involving Russia mentioned that President Trump had colluded with the Russians to win the presidential election, although the only certainty of collusion involved the Clintons and the infamous Steele Dossier.
Why is Ukraine so important to the current Biden administration.? Apparently, America is willing to go to war, or at least impose severe and serious costs on the Russians if they invade Ukraine. None other than Kamala Harris, in one of her more ironic statements, said, “And I will tell you that part of the posture that we have taken is grounded in the respect and the value we place in sovereignty and territorial integrity.” (It would be nice if she thought the same way about America’s southern border.)
This constant beating of the drums of war has caused me to think about what President Trump did to bring peace to the mid-East. Was the animosity between Israeli Jews and Islamic countries any less vitriolic than between Russia and Western Europe? Why did his search for peace in that region work?
It appears that the years of Russia, Russia, Russia have now snowballed to the point where Democrats, and all too many Republicans, can’t think in terms other than Russia bad. This single-minded anti-Trump thinking is just plain ignorant and potentially deadly. Options always exist in the world of geopolitics. Could America broker a reasonable deal with Russia rather than stumbling into war?
To me, Russia is less of a threat than Communist China and creates more of an opportunity for compromise similar to what happened in the mid-East. Russia is a predominantly Christian country and America is a predominantly Christian country. (Interestingly the percentages of Christians are nearly the same in both countries.) Racial and ethnic percentages are similar although both countries feature substantially diverse populations. America and Russia are more similar to each other than either are to China.
General William Tecumseh Sherman is quoted as saying ““I am sick and tired of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell.” General William Westmoreland said, “The military don’t start wars. Politicians start wars.” Albert Einstein warned, “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” – if there is anyone left to fight.
Maybe we ought to tone down the rhetoric and consider whether it is possible to work with Russia rather than constantly treating it as an enemy run by an ogre. What President Trump accomplished in the mid-East has been called a miracle. Maybe there is another miracle or two available in the world of geopolitics.

Last night Tucker Carlson pointed out that Biden is more concerned with Ukraine’s border than the United States’ and questioned WTF is the US doing here? It is a country on Russia’s border. The US has FCKED its diplomatic policies with Russia starting with Clinton. You have Neocons… the guys and gals of the Bush administration in power… for example Victoria Nuland… driving proxy wars…
And you are putting 8500 troops in a rapid deployment posture into Europe. By the way… the Germans are not cooperating.
What the hell expertise does Biden and his merry band of Obama/Bush jag offs have?
But here… you fcking around in an area of the world that can ignite a real war.
Then you have fcking MSNBC and CNN criticizing Carlson or calling him a traitor for pointing out the obvious that the US is a clusterfk of incompetence.
See 20 years of wars and the bug out in Afghanistan…
If Trump had just stayed off Twitter, would we be having this discussion? I still think this is a cover for Biden’s complete failure. So what, we take Putin’s credit card. The news media will call that a major Biden victory. Sanctions do not work. The corruption based mainstream media is the 1st enemy today, not Putin. We don’t even have a border. Why should Ukraine?
This ain’t nothing but cover for the Biden & Pelosi failure. WE WILL NOT HAVE ANY DIECT EXPOSURE OF US TROOPS WITH RUSSIAN TROOPS IN UKRAINE. WHY? BECAUSE WE WOULD GET OUR ASSES KICKED. JUST LIKE RUSSIA WOULD GET THEIR ASS KICKED IF THE COME OVER HERE.
THIS IS FAKE BIDEN BULLSxxt.
Are Americans concerned about Ukraine, or, inflation and empty shelves in their grocery stores? Ask yourself why Germany is giving us the finger on this one? Isn’t Germany in NATO? Hmmmmm.
All the nothing burger last week about the 5G roll out and airline catastrophe. And the Saber rattling with Russia. I think the question is really this. Is this all just part of the scam to take the focus off the terrible failure of Joe Biden and Pelosi Democrats, and give the media something to focus on and report?
Really, it would irresponsible for Putin or China to allow NATO to move right in their back yard, and on their border. If Biden is giving out shoulder launched anti aircraft missiles to Ukraine, perhaps that would explain why FedEx now apparently has asked to arm some of it planes with anti missile lasers all of a sudden. The arms like we are now shipping to Ukraine, they always seem to find their way into the wrong hands.
Yea, I think either political party would use these tactics to cover for their failures. And stay in power. Biden refuses to act on inflation and empty grocery shelves. He has surrounded himself with unqualified people.
Just wait till Republicans get back the US House in less than a year. The media will have plenty of news then. Just not the kind Democrats want.
?
So.. you are going to risk a REAL war… not a war against goat herders who WON for Christ’s sake… for the Ukraine? Russia has studied the US weapons and methods for many years.
Is Megan and her two mommies military going to beat the Russians? You think that this country as soft and p.ssy as it is, is going to really fight a war that can escalate into a REAL war? You are going to fight them on their soil. With your European “allies”. Ha…
So Dopey Joe… get real.
Well Doctor Warren… Here is why. Remember when the US left 85 billion dollars worth of equipment in Afghanistan? That reflects how much the… as Eisenhower coined… the Military Industrial Complex profits.
So… your real enemy is let’s see… CHINA… but the rest of the Tech/Academia/Wall St Complex oh Hollywood too… can’t function without China. The United States doesn’t know whether to respond the the strings on its hands of the stick up its ass that China has.
Russia?? ppptt… it is an oil producing country with a population of about 175 million. It is not a rising power. So it is safer… no completely safe… but safer to go back to the Cold War and continue to pump up Raytheon et al…
China… well you need them to make your stuff as you outsourced all your industries there. And the Big Guy and his crack head son know that they pay well..
Eisenhower warned of the military-industrial complex. It appears that the pharmaceutical-industrial complex is now the problem. ?
Sir… don’t forget to throw Tech Complex there.
The Biden family scored $31 million from five deals in China, all with individuals with direct ties to the Chinese spy apparatus, according to a bombshell new book.
Multiple financiers with direct ties to Chinese intelligence partnered with Hunter Biden during and after his father’s time as Vice President — including the former head of the Ministry of State Security and the head of foreign intelligence recruitment — and some of those relationships remain intact, according to Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer.
How soon we forget …In 1994, Ukraine signed an agreement with the U.S., the UK and Russia under which it gave up its nuclear arsenal in return for the guaranty we would protect its national sovereignty.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine had on its territory the world’s third largest nuclear arsenal. It was bigger than Britain, France and China combined. And the Ukrainians were prepared to eliminate that arsenal to transfer the warheads to Russia for their dismantlement, but the Ukrainians asked for certain things. And one was security assurances that the United States and Russia would pay attention and respect Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, that there would be no use of force or threat of force against Ukraine.
And the 1994 Budapest Memorandum of Security Assurances was the document that reflects those commitments by the United States. And Russia also joined by Great Britain to extend to Ukraine those assurances, including respect for its territorial integrity.
Spot on.
In 1994, Bill Clinton was President.
That was the dumbest move (by Ukraine) of any country in the past 75 years. To give up one’s ability to protect oneself in hope that someone else will rush to your defense.
But, when Russia bulldozed Crimea, nobody even mentioned the U.S.’s obligation to Ukraine. U.S. credibility is in the toilet.
Michael Crognale, Spot on Sir ! And yes we signed a treaty in 1994 guaranteeing Ukrainian sovereignty in return for their giving up their nuclear weapons. How soon we forget …
The question is how do we go forward other than war and conquest. Trump deserves a Nobel Peace prize for his efforts in the mid-East. I wonder what he would have done with Russia if the Democrats hadn’t pushed Russia, Russia, Russia.
This post is incredibly naive. We signed a treaty in 1994 guaranteeing Ukrainian sovereignty in return for their giving up their nuclear weapons. After Crimea (under Obama) and possibly this, who would ever trust the United States? And dredging up the stuff about the election is amusing, but irrelevant.
Simply not good enough for TBE.
Who is this ‘we?’ Our real-est enemy is the huge section of the U. S. that has been taken over by Marxists/Communists, traitors to the U. S. Ideal of an ordered liberty under our Declaration and Constitution; those who saw government as their salvation, not individual freedom. As Edmund Burke styled it, an approach to government that maximizes the small and local over the large and distant serves us best. Now the opposite prevails. Globalism under Marxists and Oligarchic principles of the Biggest rule, poisoned further by all of the petty and illogical ‘isms’ that have infected every corner of every large institution—and are abusing every citizen and his ‘lifestyle.’ Sexual anarchy and other illogical beliefs are ruining every aspect of our lives, our families and fortunes. Against all of this a very imperfect, even in his own way brutish man emerged to ruin their show, Donald Trump. Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan also come to mind, though quite different, each represented a threat to the Swamp. Trump erred in thinking he could work with the alligators. All of those throughout history who’ve worked to undermine our limited government and maximum Judeo-Christian order have been on the winning side, a treasonous march through every institution until it is almost too late to save is, us, except through our first genuinely civil war, one that may make the French Revolution, actually the first real counter to the French Revolution, look like a Sunday school picnic.
This is an incredible nonsequitir. A boatload of populist demagoguery that doesn’t even remotely relate to the issues at hand.
1994 is about three decades in the past. The USA looks nothing like it did in 1994. CRT, BLM, ANTIFA, LGBTQ, Mass Street Crime, China dominance, and the global socialist takeover of America would have been laughed at – not any more. The question is about moving forward other than war. A german Naval Officer was just forced to retire because he made positive comments about Russia and negative ones about China. Is there a geopolitical miracle to be had or will we fall once again into war – and war is very difficult to limit once it gets started.
The comment was by the military head of the German Navy. He suggested that Putin wanted respect and that he should be given respect because it was the easiest thing to do to prevent war. He also stated that the Crimea would never be returned to Ukraine. He then resigned because he was out of step with the German political leadership.
Like Dr Warren I have spent my entire adult life studying our communist enemies. This entire agenda is working as planned since the Communists began their drive to overthrow the United States in 1918 or thereabouts. Russia will invade and absorb Ukraine. China will invade and conquer or destroy Taiwan. Two front war. China is encircling us right now with their capture of Atlantic ports on the west coast of Africa and the Arabian Sea. China owns Joe Biden and have assured that he will do NOTHING as the US is reduced to 3rd world status with zero influence in the world. The communist victory will be complete.
The implications for individual liberty are horrific.
horrific, I tell ya
MSNBC, CNN, NBC, all your trusted news sources are rattling the war saber. I am sure you are ready to join up and rally round that flag, aren’t you, useful idiot libtard? Your Slap Happy Grand pappy Biden Needs YOU jag off… I am sure every liberal is ready to join up and fight fight fight for the Ukraine…
Michel that brief is the most coherent on target comments on this subject I’ve read all day. Run for office and tell me where to send money.
Wow, someone has it figured out. You left out the part where China and Russia are working together, along with Iran and several other countries who have joined in the effort to show the EU and US who is really the boss.
