Presently in Virginia’s 5th Congressional district State Senator John McGuire is leading incumbent Congressman Bob Good by 330 votes, according to the Virginia Board of Elections.
The Board will certify the votes on July 2nd. If the margin is less than 1% Rep. Good could call for a recount. If the vote margin is less than .5% the state will pay for the recount. If not, the candidate will have to pay for the recount. At present, 330 is over the .5% threshold by 18 votes. Good would have to pay for a recount.
Good has 10 days after the vote certification to ask for a recount, July 12th. Will Good be willing to pay for the recount? 330 is big hill to climb in a recount, but not out of the question.
